Are they gonna try and catch this one? Starship 13 made a surprisingly effective boat, but the whole point of starship is reusability.
The next one. Elon said they ran simulations on the landing for Ship 13 and if they had arms out there in the Indian ocean, it would have been caught successfully. But they want one more confirmation before they bring Starship in over land.

It flies, it floats and can reach anywhere in the world, Starship is an immigrants dream and/or a superb deportation vehicle.

The issue is that if Pad 2 gets taken out, that just leaves the pads at Cape. They aren't allowed to use the one functioning pad they got there because Blue Origin blue of their own. And the new pad is not ready yet.

Despite Elon's bravado, I doubt they are going to risk their own only private pad.

I also disagree with destroying each others satellites triggering nuclear war. It's no different than shooting down a drone, just more expensive.
Your opinion is irrelevant on this. States consider their satellite systems part of their anti-ballistic early warning shield and critical infrastructure. If a satellite gets taken out, they HAVE to assume that their enemies are clearing the ground for an all-out ICMB launch and if they go blind, they HAVE to assume the enemy missiles are already in fight and launch theirs. This is also the reason why a Chinese satellite must have been chosen and not a Russian one, several of theirs are integrated into the Perimetr system with with no-launch signals getting broadcast as a fail-deadly dead man's hand deterrent. Several of their satellites are broadcasting these signals, and it is impossible to know which one is actually "live" and wired to send out the signal for an immediate ICBM launch.

America is complaining about Chinese and Russian satellites providing intelligence for Iran. Iran is striking US bases in the Middle East based on that intelligence
That is an incredibly funny thing to get upset about, considering western satellites are doing the same for Ukraine. No shit Russia would return the favor. Although the mood of American decisionmakers must be incredibly sour about the whole disastrous Iran quagmire if they are considering crossing red lines like this, just to avoid a ground war.
A Cold War spy satellite has now broken up into pieces in orbit.
China of course would make no big public fuss about it, its not their style. Just expect some US satellites hit by random space debris in the coming years. This has been a tit for that message, hitting the satellite with the Arabic/Iranian name. The intended ones will get the message.

My most optimistic hope that this will just trigger a new Space Race instead of a live-action Fallout sequel.

Launch window for Starship 14 opens on the morning of September 28. They are doing a full orbit mission with this one, which will be the proof of concept for next years Artemis 3 Missions.

Different satellites do different things.

ICBM warning ones are 1. IR detectors that see the launch plumes of ICBM/SLBM/hypersonic missile launches

2. Radar warning satellites that look at the horizon line for warheads

All else should be fair game including Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) birds, camera birds and communication birds.

Eventually GPS/Baidu/GLONASS/Galileo constellations will be targeted

Why the black fabric on the back?
The new uniforms remind me of the ones they had in Star Trek Into Darkness:

It's ok but I wish they had continued to build on the BSG-style uniforms they originally had. The pants should have been the same color as the top.

We should be wearing brightly colored flat tone uniforms in space because camo doesn't actually work and we need to know who's team red and who team blue

Finally its just simply beaurocratic. The Air Force wasnt the only branch finding itself doing space shit. The Army and the Navy were too. Neither were willing to give up their space shit to the Air Force. Making a dedicated space warfare branch made the transfers more palatable from an inter service dick waving perspective.
Late post but did you people ever realize you where comparing combat uniforms to dress uniforms?

It's all pointless. Space Force is made up primarily of security guards. The next biggest group is former NASA paper pushers that were moved over so they could make the new "military" branch "legitimate".

Nine of these people are going into space.

One thing I am sure of and history has proven, is that governments never lie. I believe them when they say they don't have a thing that they obviously have.

No, we are going to make it! Space cadets are real, and soon, Space Marines will be real!

Everyday Astronaut's link for 9/28 Starship orbital attempt.

Still completely irrelevant because its not you deciding. The satellite-owning states declared it to be an absolute red line, and part of MAD so it warrants retaliation, end of of the story, regardless of what you think should be a legitimate target.
Sorry, chicom satellites are getting bent over and deorbited

Trannys WILL explosively decompress you and your entire family for not being invited into YOUR martian biodome.

SpaceX now officially has their FAA license for Monday's Starship launch attempt. Changes from previous license:

Also happening this week: Crew-13 mission arrived in Florida today; their trip to the ISS is scheduled for Thursday:

Liftoff aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is targeted no earlier than 11:10 a.m. EDT Thursday, Oct. 1, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Crew-13 is SpaceX’s 13th crew rotation mission for NASA and the company’s 14th carrying NASA astronauts to the space station, including the Demo-2 test flight.
