On paper, TF2's demoman being a black scottish man missing an eye is a diversity bingo, but it works because the game is good, all other mercs characters are equally ridiculous, and demoman is a funny guy with strong characterization.
True and it would work the same or better if Demoman were a typical Scottish Ginger.
Just drop the fake label garbage all together.
This label garbage might be more acceptable to you, but it's figuratively stage 1 cancer.
It will always lead to what we got now, stage 4 cancer.

A lot of the diversity label only media is enjoyable if the characters are normal White people who only have a cosmetic difference. All the cop buddy movies come to mind where the partner is either a funny Black guy or basically just a White guy with dark skin.
Games should not mirror real life and making characters more "real" takes away from the fun.
DEI garbage isn't mirroring real life. The Blacks are often computer geniuses (LOL everyone knows Kenny is a deep fake).
The obese Black women have great moral character and are wise magical negros.
The White males a bumbling fools that need to learn from superior Black Queens.
And the Jewish characters are always the most moral. Makes sense they transferred their bad morals to the chickens.

I wouldn't mind proper realistic representation in media, make the robber/rapist Black. Always laughing when they make them White. Like there are all these White Ghetto gangs robbing and raping if you go by what Hollywood shows you.
Make the Mob boss of the human trafficking network part of the Jewish mob.
There is no problem with using realistic stereotypes. I think it could make games more immersive.

With this label garbage you end up taking basically a normal White character and coloring them black.
That's White erasure and there is nothing good about anti-White bigotry.

Again, the label stuff isn't even remotely as bad as the DEI insanity we got now, exactly like stage 1 cancer isn't as bad as stage 4 cancer. How about no cancer at all.

There shouldn't be any non-White or non-straight character if it's not absolutely necessary, is the stance you want if you actually oppose the DEI swamp we are in now.

Remember the chart.

I was thinking about something simpler. It was just about devs pushing diversity but forgetting that players are mainly concerned with having fun, where one of the factors is to play as or interact with cool and appealing characters. On paper, TF2's demoman being a black scottish man missing an eye is a diversity bingo, but it works because the game is good, all other mercs characters are equally ridiculous, and demoman is a funny guy with strong characterization. Demoman was great, as was the rest of the cast, because each character was unique in it's design, each of them had a fun personality, and all of them were batshit insane murderous mercenaries hired to fight each other over literal dirt, not to mention that each character had their own ways of roasting each other. It was all over the top for the sake of being fun, because that was Valve's main focus with it, and back then no one gave a shit about games having to be politically correct, tokenization wasn't a thing and all that mattered was making a good game.

Also to derail this thread even further again, the reason why the Postal movie was the best Uwe Boll movie is simple. Boll didn't give a fuck, and so did Vince. Postal 2 was also a game that didn't give a fuck and made fun of itself constantly, so all of it just clicked perfectly. Vince was the executive producer on that movie so it's clear why it was so good, it was the game for Boll to make a movie about. Any other video game movie Boll made took a game people took seriously and bastardized it because he didn't give a fuck. Boll and RWS was a match made in Paradise, if you catch my drift.

I'm just going to emulate the original Tomb Raider I, II, and III, because fuck Crystal Dynamics, that's why.
Crystal Dynamics (before they were unfortunately pozzed by Squeenix and Embracer) made Legend and Anniversary in the mid-2000s, and those were great. Don't forget to emulate those two and give them a go.

Although I stopped playing TF2 long ago due to trannies and normies ruining the game, I still love that the game is way better with insanely fun multiplayer mechanics and such
Oh, I've already got Legend and Anniversary bought through GOG.
Nice. Any thoughts on the two?

I played them both during the 360/PS3 era, so I have pretty fond memories of both of them. Shame Underworld did so poorly that it killed that particular version of Lara.
I first played Legend on Gamecube and Anniversary on 360 and later on both on Steam, and these two got me into Tomb Raider easily. Keeley Hawes will always be my favorite Lara.

Underworld did poorly because it was rushed for a November release, and of course its gameplay showed, and this was because in the middle of development, Squeenix purchased Crystal and Eidos leaving the gameplay rushed to hell and back instead of waiting for an actual 2009 release. This was the main reason why Underworld was a disappointment, especially when compared to both Legend and Anniversary.

Yeah, after loving Legend I was really excited for Underworld. The fact that it ended up being so shit was just depressing. I remember even being in some desbelief when I played it, like "This... This garbage is what we've been waiting for?" and kept hoping the story would make up for the horrible gameplay, but alas.

Like I stated above your post, Underworld was rushed following Squeenix's purchase to CD which explains why the gameplay was disappointingly garbage. Anniversary will always be my favorite Tomb Raider game

I know, I read it. It's a sad repeat of history after what happened with Angel of Darkness.

Are black people known for living in the mountains of tibet, their red eyes, white fur, and massive underbite too?? They could have captured the cutscene where laura talks to a south pacific islander cannibal, but they chose this? Anything to be a victim I suppose.

We Wuz Yeti N Shiet!
Maybe this future doctor didn't want to deal with the fact that south pacific island cannibals are real and that's why he picked something less concrete?

Crystal Dynamics really need to either evolve nuLara's character or just shelve the series. I feel like the 3 reboot games are the same origin story just told differently. Old Lara was a confident, seasoned explorer that wasn't carrying all this gay baggage about being a survivor, woman and the rest of the bullshit the devs think is more important in Tomb Raider than raiding tombs.

Then there's problem with Lara's sexuality. I understand that the marketing around TR back in the day went overboard with the whole "sex icon" thing but nuLara might as well be a genderless blob. I think that Crystal Dynamics needs to learn the difference between a confident and flirtatious character and gaymer, incel pandering. nuLara has less personality that Nathan Drake.

I don't really mind the reboot games but Crystal Dynamics need to focus on making Lara an enjoyable character. I'd also make the next game level based with more open environments and more puzzles. Basically more like old TR.
If they really wanted to harmonize it all, they should have nuLara in fact just be Lara Croft Jr.

Then we can at least mock her for not living up to mommy's standards.

And make it a self-aware parody of the 2010s reboot in order for the continuity to strive? Sounds like horrible nuMarvel-type bullshit, and I'm not surprised that none of that is salvaging a franchise that has been dead after 2009

Obese double amputee (probably lost to diabetes) danger haircut lesbian sheboon. Gotta tick every box. Lara was apparently turned into TLOU Abby as well. I have no words.
