I'm sorry but no. Not as long as uwe boll's ovure still exists. I'm not saying you have to like it, but just on the technicals it's at least a movie and better than something like MK Annihilation.
Sorry to tell you this, but Uwe Boll's Postal is a masterpiece. And Paul WS Anderson did make the OG Mortal Kombat movie, and both of them are the best vidya movies ever.

Also even in a technical level, 2018 Tomb Raider is still bad because of bad lighting, awkward editing and shitty CG effects that look like something off of a made-for-TV Syfy original movie.

Oh and speaking of Uwe Boll's Postal...
Uwe Boll made Postal the greatest video game movie of all time lmfao although I don't disagree with you.
It gave us this classic scene and more

Uwe Boll's Postal
my dad at thanksgiving like 15 years ago interrupted my uncle who was rambling about some computer game to ask him if he had played postal 2. my uncle asked what it was and my dad described it as "it's like duke nukem but you can pull your cock out and piss on people and you kill gas station sand niggers who have bombs in the back of the store" and my uncle said "that doesn't sound like a game I would like" and I think about that and laugh all the time.

my dad also lived out of state for work in the late 2000s and called the house one time in the middle of the fucking night and woke up my mom and told her to wake me up only to tell me they made a postal movie and he saw it on cable and it was perfect and my 13th birthday later that year he got me that on DVD lmfao

Postal 2 is an incredible game and the Uwe Boll movie is such a masterpiece through and through. Both things were literally not afraid to push the envelope by being creative with their dark, cynical and edgy humor. It's a riot through and through, and is also one of my favorite movies altogether.

Yeah, but I didn't mention them. And just because Postal is good doesn't suddenly make Alone in the Dark or House of the Dead or others better.

However you personally feel about the movie doesn't change its objective ascetic qualities.

And Tomb Raider 2018 is apparently just as insulting to you as Chun-li was to street fighter fans.

I never said that Alone in the Dark or House of the Dead are any better. I just like Uwe Boll's Postal because it's a perfect way to adapt Postal 2 with its cynical and edgy humor. The same reason why I like Paul WS's take on Mortal Kombat from 1995 for being a nice PG-13 adaptation of an M-rated game. That doesn't mean Monster Hunter or the Resident Evil movies are better, I just like the movie.

Also, it's ok if you like Tomb Raider 2018, and I'm not going against you for liking it. The movie was just bad all and all in every degree from the writing, character motivation, acting and even the technical aspects like lighting and effects. So of course the movie is worse than Legend of Chun-Li. I even dare say that it's on the same level as the likes of Ghostbusters 2016

Yeah but that's why I said - those movies are still way worse.

And I wouldn't say I "like" TR2018. More like I've seen Rollergator so any movie which isn't that is an improvement in my book.

But I mean I survived the original Mario Bros. We went through a LOT of shit back in the day - and BEFORE you go trying to defend that first Mario film, I'll merely point out that if it's ok to throw spikey hair on Dennis Hopper and call him Bowser than it's just as ok to through a tank top on Alicia and call her Lara Croft. Let's have SOME standards around here. You can't go making excuses for that and some other turds that wouldn't also apply to TR18.

Equal to Fembusters... that does sound fair.

Also the first Resident Evil movie was pretty decent. Afterwards they went off the rails hard - though there could be some entertainment in them now and then.

so how do we feel about the upcoming netflix tomb raider anime? over and under on will it suck or not
Feel like we went over this before. Depends on the studio? I forgot who's doing it.

And who here picked up the TR MTG secret lair and are working on a Lara deck?

At least the live-action Mario movie wasn't tortuously boring and forgettable and it had a lot of interesting production history even if the final product ended up being shit. Tomb Raider 2018 was tortuously boring and forgettable

It's gonna suck

Bought the collection on pay day.

Haven't really played PSX Era games since most likely 1997 or 1998 (whenever TR2 came out).

Did try repeatedly to get into nu-TR1 but Lara's sad moppet personality and modern day shit I really don't like (QTE's, crafting, skill trees, Batman mode, hand holding) turns me off and bores me not too far into the game.

Despite all that, I wound up beating the original Tomb Raider over the course of a week and man it's maybe a fave of mine now. Once you get the controls, I felt like a Chad exploring the levels. That's something else I really liked was it required some brain power to solve puzzles and find the level exit.

Lara herself is also pretty cool, gives me Duke Nukem ass kicker vibes you rarely see anymore. Like the new version of Kratos, I can't understand the desire to suddenly make Lara into a "realistic" person since what makes me like her is the fact she's not realistic but a (potentially psychopathic) action hero.

Have you tried picking up the Anniversary trilogy yet?

Average person wasn't even aware of it because it was a pixelated blur on your typical CRT and you almost never saw the back of Pierre's in the first game because he was always facing you when you encounter him, even when dead it was very difficult to really tell. Still, a very ballsy easter egg to challenge whether rating boards like the ESRB would notice back in 96. Had they known, it would've caused a bump up to Rated M effecting sales.

I'll probably buy the Remastered trilogy eventually. The disclaimer doesn't bother me much since its a compromise instead of removing everything.
And if you truly want to remove the message, use "-nolegal" in the Steam launch options. This is one of those command lines most people are unaware of.
Or just mod it with...

It's Embracer-era Crystal assuring people that "big yikes FOREVER, the OG games are, like, problematic y'all" with that bullshit disclaimer.

They're jealous that Aspyr and the creator of OpenLara made a product that people wanted and the disclaimer is the "fuck you for one upping us" Still, -nolegal is the chemo.

Are there any more mods in terms of changing the disclaimer, because I can write something up

Anniversary kicks ass. I like all 3 LAU games but it's far and away the best one. it feels the most like a "next gen" evolution of the original tomb raider series. Underworld also has some interesting things going on as a progression I just never thought it was really that good. and the games since then, idk I don't hate the survivor trilogy as much as most old school TR fans but I wouldn't call them Tomb Raider games at all, they're not. I just found them fun to play. we haven't had a proper tomb raider game since 2008 and no matter what CD says about this 'unified' thing combining the original style with the survivor trilogy we aren't getting any ever again. at least officially.
What blew me away about anniversary, besides the unabashed Lara T&A, was the arm movement and climbing. As someone who played Uncharted first, you see exactly where naughty dog got it from. Lara's vaulting and ledge reaching animations impressed me in the same way PS2 Silent Hill's environmental detail impressed me. It seems way ahead of its time.

and look at this Lara, she is well-groomed, takes care of her skin, and looks quite confident in her figure, I thought we were supposed to celebrate women being the best they can be? When oh when will "hot-shaming" end? Enough bigotry and all that jazz etc.

I've seen quite a number of people claim that Crystal Dynamics did this to torpedo the release and sell less copies than expected.

She will always be my favorite Lara. And Keeley Hawes was the perfect actress to VA Lara.
Except it is a shame she still gets to voice Lara in place she doesn't belong in
