Do we really need a new reboot?

Angel of Darkness if released today would fit into that "edgecore kino" shit I see kids go on about. And there would be several unfunny "literally me" memes about Kurtis synced up to Linkin Park songs.

If we could get a version of that game that fixed up everything and was an actual coherant game instead of the mess we actually got I'd be happy with that. Either way I am rejoicing that the real Lara Croft has returned.

It was a product of the 2000s with their shitty AMVs made in Windows Moview Maker for YouTube back in 2006 and 2007 (or even earlier). Even cringeworthy fanfiction written during the early-to-mid 2000s about Lara and Kurtis shipping were just disgusting.

I never played it but look up Tomb Raider - The Angel of Darkness Restoration Project. Some dude is making a mod that claims to fix a lot of the issues with the game.

I had previously looked at that mod. It's fine but doesn't go far enough. AoD needs far more dramatic changes, frankly. Basically a full on remake closer to the original writer's intent. The closest I've seen is Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness - Definitive Edition. But that's a demo and also still fundamentally using AoD. Without making a new game there's only so much you can do to salvage an inherently badly made game. I'd rather just start from scratch and do it better.

The animated film from the original writer is pretty good though.

TR: Legends/Anniversary has a lot in common gameplay-wise with those. (which is a good thing in my book because I loved those games)

Also I would like to recommend "En Garde" on steam. ($20) The protagonist has a Lara Croft spirit to her. Light platforming so far - more focused on combat in the style of the arkham series.

I have not. Those types of games aren't my preference. That said, I would to branch out into single player titles for the sake of variety.

i think it look fine tbh. not expecting cutesy anime style for something like this. they're clearly going for something inspired by the new trilogy of games. if thats the style they wanna do it in, so be it. plus this is more like a teaser. we'll need more time to find out what it will actually be like story wise

This really makes me wanna vomit. From the same studio of Castlevania animated, I won't be surprised if they end up using shitty woke storylines. And judging from the anime aesthetic, Lara still looks ugly. I mean, Hayley Atwell as Lara Croft is a much better choice, but even she sounds like she's foaming it in, and it isn't really her fault.

Because major tragedies like Sandy Hook, Boston Marathon, Paris and Vegas attacks, respectively, have "motivated" big name shitshow celebs and/or corpos to push their lefty anti-gun control agenda and think that guns are "le cause of muh tragedies" or some shitty bullshit Limp Bizkit shit. Whether these people like it or not, Lara's dual pistols have been a staple of Tomb Raider since the very first game, and just using her as a Hunger Games/Unchrated ripoff doesn't mean Lara Croft. And considering they're using the 2010s survivor trilogy as canon, then it's time to just give up with the franchise. It's over.

Oh boy... Expect them to over-rely on swearing to make pretend that it's animation for adults, too. In reality, it will be a show for people who only pretended to be fans of Tomb Raider. Oh, and Lara will probably be a lesbian with a black love interest just for the hell of it.

Being a fan of certain game franchises is suffering.
