With all the money COD makes you'd think they could hire an actual woman to do motoin capture. And what is going on with the length of her arms?
It just screams uncanny valley. And also, her boobs aren't big. I mean then again, that's what happens when you have a Vegas prostitute cosplaying a British archeologist.
It's because it's not. They just kinda re-skinned her & slapped that character model on a default male body rig & animations for her. Hell, the mo-cap is literally from a guy they already have from their stock. Why? Because it's their usual laziness. In this game, everyone walks the same. It’s also painfully obvious all the characters are designed the same way (heavy packs, boots, vests, etc.) to accommodate the lack of animations. This is one of the very few not built that way, & yeah, it looks terrible, Lara is supposed to have graceful movements. This bitch walks like a WWE Wrestler. And I still find it hard to believe that this is an actual Lara Croft render. Did anyone even pay attention to what she actually looked like during the two Jolie movies, the Anniversary trilogy or (to a lesser extent) Angel of Darkness?
I can safely say that this shitty Lara design reminds me of... well, this obscure shit from 2006 that I found. It's because it's not. Just look at Lara's face, she looks like a troon.
Also, another funny thing I realised. They couldn't give Lara her proportions & dimensions due to "muh unrealistic expectations" or some shit, but somehow Nicki Minaj got her actual body, which led to a great amount of Rule 34 art.
I actually kinda like the design here honestly.I can safely say that this shitty Lara design reminds me of... well, this obscure shit from 2006 that I found.

Try to pay close attention to the poorly-rendered character design errors, most notably the 242 girl.I actually kinda like the design here honestly.
Yeah, the object models seem fine to me, but now that I'm not focusing on the 242 girl's mid-riff, her face looks very off, IDK how to explain, but the texture feels a bit... smidged? compared to the entire body, it kinda looks like a Fable mod gone wrong or something. In fact, the gray dude looked fine, the object models for the city & vehicles don't look bad either, it's just her & her face.@Xenomorphs Are Cute find anything yet?
There is actually, try to look at the second half of the reel. Her face is better, but her boobs are a bit smaller. And the gray rock guy also looked beige.Yeah, the object models seem fine to me, but now that I'm not focusing on the 242 girl's mid-riff, her face looks very off, IDK how to explain, but the texture feels a bit... smidged? compared to the entire body, it kinda looks like a Fable mod gone wrong or something. I don't know if there's something else, & my blind-ass can't see it.
Yeah, looking at it again, you're right. The gray dude's color actually did look different to me for a second too but I think I was just lenient & forgiving on it due to the era the project it's models are from. The "asset" reduction on the 242 girl is the worst offender for me now. There is actually, try to look at the second half of the reel. Her face is better, but her boobs are a bit smaller. Only in its thumbnail, she looks more like Lara Croft.
It's a student reel from 2006 in Capilano University. From what I've heard, he was terrible at doing CG and he only made these in different CG programs and he and his friends who edited and rigged the characters and settings had only two weeks to complete and had to rush it all on Adobe After Effects, which explains the obvious goofs, making the final product more like a Frankenstein monster.Yeah, looking at it again, you're right. But CD did it already in 2007.
Ugh, that's dreadful and very troon-esque. She makes reboot Lara look great, how do they keep getting worse? It's because it's not.
