Does look neat, but to be honest I'd only play it if it has an option for modern controls and save states. Not just a case of git gud, TR3 in particular was pure bullshit in many places.

I am beyond excited for the remaster. Finally getting an official re-release of the expansions after all this time. All integrated into one executable with native controller support. No more shitty DOSBox or fan patches to get it working on modern PCs. Achievements will encourage me to get all the secrets too.
Hopefully the new engine will be compatible with TRLE levels with some tinkering.
Only bad thing about the announcement is how early it is. 5 more months until release
I can't believe they're acknowledging old Lara exists. I'm very excited, as far as remasters go it seems to enhance the visuals without shitting all over the charming art style. Can't wait to swan dive into the concrete just like the good old days.
I'll say this, the way Embracer is currently treating Lara is still way better than what Squeenix did. It shows that CD still cares due to the fact that Embracer is doing total control.
Play Anniversary. Literally the game that made me fall in love with the franchise. Still haven't gotten around to Legend, so I guess we're both even, lol
I made the mistake of reading the Steam discussions. 90% of it is fucking retarded zoomers complaining about tank controls.
I swear to God, whether or not people can use tank controls should be a replacement for the shopping trolley return test.
Tank controls allow a high amount of precision and are integral to lining up jumps, especially in classic Tomb Raider where all the levels are made with cubes.
I hear the same shit in classic Resident Evil groups too. The amount of spastics that can't comprehend press left = turn left makes me want to die.
Kinda bummed out Last Revelation didn’t make the cut because that one really upped the classic Egyptian tomb feel which I loved.
But I’m still very excited that we’re getting this at all ALONG with the expansion pack levels coming to consoles for the first time.
I’ll probably stick with the original low poly toggle because that’s part of the charm of the game for me and also the fact there were no skyboxes in the first game so everything was just a black void in outside areas which really added to the creepiness of the atmosphere.

Legend actually got me into Tomb Raider, and Anniversary was the game that made me love the franchise even more (not counting the first 2001 Jolie movie).

This is because ADHD zoomerfags from 2002 onward never grew up with the original Tomb Raider games from both decades 90s and 2000s and instead only assumed that it's "just like heckin' Uncharted" and only knew the goyslop 2010s trilogy and its corporate bullshit 2018 movie.
Me too. I love Von Croy, having one setting for the whole game and the interconnectedness of it.
Maybe they'll do another remaster trilogy if this one is successful? I'd love to see Angel of Darkness get the proper treatment it deserves. I've never seen a game with more potential utterly ruined by corporate greed and wanting go rush the product out the door.
I couldn't care less about Chronicles though lol. Horrific game. Should've just been an expansion for TLR instead of a standalone title.

With how much has come out over the years about its development and what was cut, a remastered Angel of Darkness would probably be one of the most well-received games in the franchise. Especially if they included everything that was cut.

if the remaster does good, it would show there's an audience and with most of the groundwork done it shouldn't be too hard and expensive to do it with 4+5, but I never played those so I don't know how many new features of the originals they'd have to port/implement.
angel of darkness should be easy to fix if it's mostly an asset port, as for the cut content it probably depends how much has survived over the years (core design went out of business in 2010) and in what state it is. a "complete" version however would be another boost for sales and a boon to properly preserve the original "vision".
if embracer goes full nostalgia and uses this in their marketing I'm gonna buy 5 copies:
I would absolutely love a remaster of Angel of Darkness, was never able to beat it because my copy was corrupted. It sucks that the game was overflowing with bugs and got its story arc dropped, it deserved better than that. Also I wanted to see more of Kurtis.

I beat it many years ago and it was heart breaking because what worked was so good, but I ended the game with 99 Periapt Shards (there's only 3 in the game and they're key items), vintage wine and records in my inventory because I didn't sell them at the one shop at the start of the game.
I always forget about the "RPG" mechanics as well. Every instance where Lara gets stronger could just be replaced with a switch or a key.
