She is not pulling if off with her Plank body.
They chose her on purpose.

They could have chosen an actress who doesn't suffer from Ironing board syndrome and actually fits Lara Croft's design.

It's somehow worse than the last one. Seriously, say what you will about Alicia Vikander Tomb Raider, but she atleast got ripped for the role.

I guess the effort is commendable, but she too was a miscast.
Imagine looking at Vikander and Turner and their boyish physique, then look at Lara Croft concept art and game models and concluding they are the perfect fit.

You have to look really hard to find women with absolutely zero curves.
I do think this is a very deliberate choice of casting.

She's way too scrawny yet at the same time her arms and shoulders look boyish, she has zero tits or ass, lookin' like a troon. No clue how they expected this to go over well. Totally wrong body type. Also no clue how they managed to make her so much less attractive than she really is.

I played TR1 completely for the first time recently. Previous attempts made me very very bored and I didnt get past the first level. On the recent attempt, I discovered how good the platforming was, its a very western approach to platforming challenges yet the mechanics had a lot of depth like a japanese game. It does get a bit repetitive from the Egypt sections onwards but still, some pacing issues are not a big problem. Really good game, I want to know if the other games pre 2013 are like this as well. Ive played the 2013 trilogy, its basically Uncharted but Lara Croft.

Yeah I like how the platforming is actually the point of these games. We've gotten used to it just being no brain shit going from A to B like Uncharted but platforming is a skill you actually have to master and it becomes very fun when you do. Not to mention that most of the platforming tricks you learn also directly apply to combat.

I found it very very annoying and unintuitive the first time I played. This time though it clicked, with the whole 4x4 grid movement system and each of the 4 jumps covering distinct grid values. Once you know that it works that way, every platforming challenge is just a puzzle to be solved, you have to know the positioning, the jumps to use and the sequence of events. That combined with the open levels and exploration is very very cool. Granted, I stopped playing right about Atlantis II cause it got boring/stale by then and the gunplay was a bit shit tbh but the 80-90% platforming parts is still the peak of western platforming design imo. No non simulation game from the west Ive seen has come close to this level of mechanical depth. This in comparison to the 2013 one which is just a nosedive in quality, its basically just Uncharted with cutscenes and walking sections connected by minigames like puzzle solving and shooting galleries.

This isn't Lara Croft

This is someone's mother or grandmother dressing up as Lara Croft for Halloween, only she liked the costume too much to take it off.

Hell, it so doesn't look like Lara Croft, at this point it could be a Resident Evil character with that get-up. Like she wanted to dress up as Jill but it was too cold outside so she wore the brown longshirt first.

This reminded me of something I wanted to post about here but forgot to.

As per Sophie Turner herself, her Lara Croft isn't a "sex bombshell" and Amazon's Tomb Raider series will "show the other side" of the video game icon. [A]

Yeah, Tomb Raider will truly be the most bastardized, if not molested Western game series in terms of reboots, remakes, & live-actions, since 2010 onwards.

Honestly, one can only wish for both the level & the dedication the early Resident Evil live-actions had for their character, especially Jill.

Hell, Sienna Guillory's love & dedication to the role can't be done by someone like Sophie Turner, & Paul W.S. Anderson's sincerety & love for his wife (primarily seeing her in latex) in his films can't be done by modern creators.

What's truly hilarious is that at certain points, the actual remake games made by Capcom are less authetic of an adaptation of the original games, than the Paul W.S. Anderson movies. Hell, some games directly took stuff from those films.
