Do we really need a new reboot?

  • Yeah, I think it's about that time

  • No, the franchise is dead.

  • NO, A FOLLOWUP WHERE LARA PREACHES BOUT SLAY QUEEN DEFEATING EVIL ORANGE MAN

  • who cares, square enix killed another franchise

Original Lara is best Lara, and Angelina Jolie was the perfect casting pick for the movie.

For years, Keeley Hawes has been my favorite portrayal of Croft, but then again original Lara will always be better than modern day Nu-Croft.

I hate the reboot and I hate Nu Lara but that's not the point. The fucking fan base drives me nuts, I already quit tombraiderforums because rebooters have overtaken everything. They could spam and leave their shitty comments on any classic related project but you're not allowed to say anything negative about the reboot because that's "dividing the community". Like bitch, the community is already divided, there's no middle ground. Classic fans have been keeping the real Lara alive, made their own games and TRLE levels, financed the soundtrack remasters for classic TR and AOD, meanwhile rebooters been posting shit like this:

(it's from the cringy comic called "Lara Croft the Boob Raider" that completely shits over core design work)

Well, I never cared that I didn't look like Lara because I'm not a self-hating insecure twat and I don't get triggered by girls prettier than me.

Recently classic fans organized and started a hashtag "Bring back Classic Lara" and even a fan petition to let Squenix know there's a demand for the character. What do you think happened? All those "nice and inclusive" members of the fandom called the hashtag divisive and toxic because we apparently must "Respect all versions of Lara". And then Rhianna found out about it and got triggered because we hurt her feels, even though she left the franchise after Rise.

I'm tired of being nice and inclusive to these assholes. They tainted the franchise so much I can't even look at classic games anymore. But I don't even care. Shadow was a flop and pretty much killed the reboot. Maybe that's why rebooters are salty...

I'm still glad I left Tomb Raider forums as they continuously praise the reboot trilogy and the shitty 2018 film as if they were the books of the Holy Bible or some other stupid Limp Bizkit shit. The fan community is absolute cringe. Squeenix is still shit for ruining properties like this, as well as Thief, and yet let shittier games like A Quiet Man and the Life is Strange duology greenlit.

Messed around with Shadow's recently and actually sort of enjoyed it. Not paying to play it probably helps make it seem better. The action still comes off as awkward for a Tomb Raider game. It's just weird having Laura go around an enemy checkpoint stabbing people in the jugular. Makes me think the developers could make a decent playing Rambo game if given the chance though.
That makes up a very small portion of the game. You're going to spend the most time in forests and ruins or at the church and it's catacombs. The mercenary guy facilities are only at the beginning and the oil refinery.

Shadow's entire last part is almost entirely what the older tomb raider games were about. It goes places with some of the weirder elements they introduce.

The series peaked with the reboot trilogy, and then fucking cratered with the newer games. 2016 was alright, but ROTR was just awful with the worst protagonist of all time in it (I was skipping cutscenes near the end since I couldn't stand anything about the character) and it seems I made the right choice in not playing Shadow at all.
No you should play Shadow.

It may have a rough start but then it gets interesting with the amazonian mole people and the Ziggurat sacrifice ritual. The entire underground section feels like they tried to modernize a Verne book with how the bad guys bring their vehicles underground and drive them through the volcanic caverns and then everything is on fire as the Mole Queen is sending her tribe to attack these guys.

The final battle is pretty great. It also makes more sense than just trying to hit a helicopter with a trebuchet and OHKOing the pilot with a regular ass bow and arrow like Rise had.

To be honest, gameplay wise, ROTR was fine. A bit formulaic in it's approach to open world collecting, but nothing bad about it. I just hated the main character. She either hates being an adventuress or is bored of everything, and that feeling transferred to me.

I wrote this in the LoU thread.
TR2013-
Devs: "This game will be Laras defining moment in which she becomes the Tomb Raider we all know."

ROtTR-
Devs: "With this new journey, this will be the defining moment in which Lara becomes the Tomb Raider we all know."

SOtTR-
Devs: "With the trilogy coming to a close, this game will be the defining moment in which Lara becomes the Tomb Raider we all know."

Devs now: "Dont expect the Lara who wears shorts or use duel welding pistols to ever come back. Shorts are a product of misogyny and her new weapon is a bow and arrow. Deal with it."

I think that's what really pissed me off about the series. They kept hyping up every game that she would become THE tomb raider in said game only to backtrack at the end and say just kidding shes never coming back you sexist.

I will say there was a seen in SOtTR where she was rising out of the water sick of all the bullshit and thought ah yeah here she comes only for her to go back to muh Jonah and daddy issues seconds later. Such a cocktease.

I think the best way to reintroduce Lara in the next game would be having her go undercover in a Victoria's Secret esque fashion show to get info out of some bad guy attending.

Picture Lara in lingerie, complete with thong.

I picture that damn near every day.

Anyway, if you want the perfect way to reintroduce Lara, look no further than the classic Top Cow Tomb Raider comic.

lmaooooooo

What the fuck is with this evolution of American culture? It's like a cruel joke.

Let's have everything resemble netflix originals, that's safe.
I mean I still think the following originals: Castlevania, Marriage Story, F is for Family, Little Witch Academia, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Dolomite is My Name, Hilda, Devilman: Crybaby, Green Eggs and Ham, Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, Glitch Techs, and Klaus are still quality.

Then again, the rest of Netflix's originals are complete dogshit.

Sex and the City and also Friends has ruined an entire generation by getting them to believe that cosmopolitan mediocrity is the height of human existence.

Ghost Busters at least made New York look cool.
Sounds like a great song suggestion for Negative XP, "Friends, Sex and the City, and Judd Apatow ruined a whole generation of concerned karens."
