He's really showing those handful of dudes on usenet

Part of me wonders if the Usenet/Springfield Archive guys didn't sperg out so hard in the Scully Era/Silver Age that maybe Al Jean wouldn't had gotten as vindictive as he did when he became showrunner and not only refuse to let go of the show but vehemently reject and dismiss any and all criticism of the show's decline.

I get that the Silver Age's bad episodes were REALLY bad (even if the good ones outweighed them IMO) and that some of the more "meta" ones that got a lot of hate like Principal and the Pauper or Saddlesore Galactica were kind of jarring at the time, but these guys acted like the show was ruined forever. It's become almost poetic that their complaining helped ensure the show really would get bad with Al Jean at the helm and the Zombie Simpsons seasons of the late 2000's onward.

Seasons 13-16 weren't too bad, more "meh" than Zombie Simpsons and you had a few genuinely good episodes hidden among the mostly mediocre episodes but I'd say part of that would be due to the fact you still had guys like Swartzwelder and some of the other "old guard" from the Golden Age and Silver Age seasons who could probably keep Al Jean in check and also offset a lot of the newbie writers and producers.

Fuck, even Family guy got someone who can do an impression of Cleveland to be be their new Cleveland. It'd just be easier to just drop Carl and replace him with a new character than replacing Hank with someone who'll probably not sound anywhere close to the voice he did for Carl. And I've heard Alex's voice, unless he can actually pull it off and we just don't know it, it'll probably end with either indifference or "THE SIMPSONS ARE RUINED FOREVER! AGAIN!" with no in-between.

Still makes me wonder who'll be replacing Harry as Hibbert, or if they're just going to write him out completely considering he's meant to be a Cosby parody.

I listened to New Carl and New Cleveland and it feels like whoever is playing Carl is trying too hard which makes it easier to tell while the new Cleveland is virtually the same as the original voice.

Funny how a white guy voicing Cleveland was a problem, but this guy:

Voicing Cleveland's friend:

Was awesome.

I tried watching it, and I noticed two important details:
  1. The actor is TRYING to sound like the original Karl, but still no dice. I give him an A for effort, but that won't cut it.
  2. You can REALLY tell the writers are deliberately trying to avoid drawing attention to Karl's new voice by having far fewer lines compared to Lenny or Homer. In fact, in the entire video he rarely talks at all, and it's pretty damn apparent that was done intentionally. If they made Karl say more lines and have longer dialogue, it would be painfully obvious to Simpsons purists like us that it's not the real Karl. Casual normie fans might not notice, hence why they barely had him talk.
2/10.

I'm glad Futurama died before things got really retarded culture wise. That cringe election 3012 episode was still a hundred times better than this.

Here's the cucked normie take from MeBlogWriteGood:

Over the summer it was announced that the show would no longer use white actors to portray non-white characters, so here in the season premiere, we have our first replacement, Alex Désert as the new voice of Carl. It’s not perfect, but he definitely captures the basic essence of the character, and presumably will get even stronger as he makes more and more appearances. He’s as close as Grey Delisle is as the new Martin. I don’t really want to talk a whole bunch about the larger issue of performers voicing outside their own races, but just like the Apu “controversy,” this whole thing shines a strong light on this series being really out-of-place still being around in 2020. I’d see people making lists of characters needing to be recast, and they were either incredibly short or padded with characters we haven’t seen in over a decade. Of the hundred or so majority recurring characters on this series, maybe 7 of them are non-white? And that makes perfect sense, this is a show from the 1990s that’s still creaking and scraping along three decades later. I guess recasting is a nice gesture… I guess? But at this point, in season 32, really, what does it matter? Outside of maybe Apu, the other major POC characters are secondary at best, and they don’t appear all that often, would it matter that much if Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer just kept doing the voices? For brand new shows like Big Mouth or Central Park having main black characters voiced by white actors, I get the problem, but in this case, it feels a bit more pointless, just because The Simpsons is an ancient dinosaur that no one really cares about outside of the few diehard fans still clinging to this show until the end, and dopes like me that have blogs bitching and complaining about it.

New Carl reminds me of that recast Flanders gag from the old seasons, only this is supposed to be taken seriously.

Major props to Cleveland's new actor though, I couldn't tell a difference between his old & new voice.

During 2016 the AV Club did an article on timeless Simpsons quotes and one of them was "Go ahead. Throw your vote away" saying it captured the zeitgeist of the 2016 election. The writer then went on a mini rant saying that as bad as Hillary was, Trump was far worse. He was the perfect example of the "I voted for Kodos" mindset the line was mocking by thinking his terrible candidate was better than the other terrible candidate.

I remember that article.

Indeed, I was sad that Futurama ended but now I'm glad it did before things started to go to shit.

Just about any pop cultural thing that was over and done with before Current Year took off is now a blessing in disguise even if we wanted more at the time.

They likely have no problem with "PoC" actors playing "white" (yellow) characters on the show, but somehow it's "problematic" for white people to play "PoC" ones because of a BS "privilege hierarchy" SJWs try to pigeonhole people in based on identity.

Would they bring Apu back if they found an Indian voice actor?
They haven't given him a role for two seasons, I'm starting to think he'll just remain a voiceless background character.

Probably for the best, I don't want to hear a weird uncanny valley impersonation of Apu like Carl's new actor.

Oh god, Carl's new voice is fucking awful. And that episode was unfunny as fuck. Seriously, how long are they going to keep this shit going? It's not even zombie Simpsons anymore. The zombie has long since decayed past it's ability to even shamble, and it's now just a rancid desecrated corpse.

I guess it's time to start a new term, how about "Desecrated Simpsons corpse"?
