I like that commercial the Sea Captain made for CDs of sea songs.

Seems he was the only one singing all of them.

I liked that Sunday's episode felt like one of the individual segments from a non-Halloween three segment anthology episode stretched out to full episode length (not counting the bookend segments in the museum) because I feel like the better anthology episode segments often feel "too short" to tell a proper story while you got a decent arc with this full length Roman Empire episode.

I love the absolute horror/concern in Burns' voice. It's so out of character, and yet so hilarious.

I've always thought that Homer Vs. Dignity was underrated af.

I was surprised that people hated that panda rape scene when I first saw it because I was laughing my ass off at that. It's way better than most season 12 episodes tbh, despite the lackluster 3rd act. I think this episode, for most of its runtime, felt like a season 7 episode. It reminded me of Homer The Smithers. Very similar stories. In fact, with a few fixes, I think it would've been on par with golden age or an episode like Trilogy of Error.

The panda rape scene is shitty but overall it's ok

Its the same thing with a lot of those "Worst Episodes Ever" from the Scully years, when you look at them outside of the more infamous parts they really are OK episodes. Like everyone has said Homer vs. Dignity has a dumb plot and an offensive shock humor scene but a lot of the jokes are still funny.

The Principal and the Pauper when you get past how dumb the main storyline is and the terrible way of retconing it at the end a lot of the jokes are well constructed and hit their mark well. Skinner's flashback to his delinquent youth is hilarious where he winds up in front of the judge by literally running his motorcycle into him and being too stupid to realize a war was going on otherwise he would have just apologized. Its a funny scene, but its how we got there and the character its about are stupid and whats wrong overall. You could have had it be a flashback to Nelsons Dads childhood or another character who had an open backstory instead of Skinner who had a well established backstory.

Even the awful Jockey Elves episode had some actual laughs in it. At one point after the Jockeys are revealed to be evil elves Homer at one point says "I'll deal with those murderous trolls". It is the stupidest thing ever and has no place in the show but the way he says it with sincerity and anger is hilarious just because Castellaneta delivers it in a way that is completely serious. The story structure is terrible and the characters are Flanderized versions of themselves but the odds are pretty good that something funny is going to happen. The fact that these episodes have actually funny jokes puts them miles ahead of the more recent seasons where everything is flat and the jokes are explained two times over for the audience to understand.

Remember when Halloween episodes were suppose to have a semblance of horror properties to them. *sigh*

Also the amount of rule 63 Disney princess homer porn will be disturbing.

To put you at ease, we have re-created the most common spawning locations of your species. You may choose either...

... the back seat of a Camaro...

... an airplane bathroom...

... a friend's wedding...

... or the alley behind a porno theater!

if you want to try sitting through a particularly catastrophic scully episode that seems to offend pretty much everybody, try the one where maude fucking dies from season 11
Really? I thought it was Miracle on Evergreen Terrace back in Season 9. When I was younger, I thought that episode was but a fever dream. Now that I've been shown that this episode does exist, that's pretty much soured my perspective on The Simpsons forever. And everyone thinks Homer's Enemy is offensive. Try the episode where everyone puts the Simpsons into their personal debt and fucks them over around Christmas. I'm not surprised this was the season where the Treehouse of Horror revolves around the town getting nuked, because that's the only thing I feel should had happened after that episode, and anything and everything awful that happens to Springfield doesn't even bother me considering everyone is essentially an asshole and deserves it.
