Now that's a good question.

Taking it off gears a bit, someone recently uploaded the opening and ending credits to the Arabic version of the show as it was aired briefly on the Middle Eastern channel MBC. This was the dub that had to do a lot of changes to get it within the limits of what could pass for a show catered to a Muslim majority. It didn't stick around long before an original animated production took it's place.

Interestingly, despite several odd edits made the end of "Krusty Gets Busted (Bart putting the picture of him and Krusty on the wall, then turning off his lamp), we get to see clips of the dubbing staff, I suppose as a nice gesture of thanks to them for having worked on this.

There's a few other clips of this dub on YT if you look around enough, like this...

You also have to remember that nowadays, Dan's also a consulting producer (and has been since 2009 or so). So if he goes, even besides the fact that he's like half the adult males in the cast (both major and incidental), they'll be stuck in an uncomfortable position.
 
Yeah this week's episode was shit.

Not only are they playing at tourist board again, they did it for the wrong fucking country! I associate the murder dramas, furniture and sexual freedom with Sweden!

And yes, Julie Kavner is clearly dying.

One good thing though, I wonder if Comrade Sammy is freaking out about The Simpsons saying how wonderful Denmark is...
 
Damn you people. Now I have to check out the latest episode just to hear how bad Marge's voice is.

I am 40 seconds into the episode and a very blatant animation error occurs where they just didn't bother to animate Marge's mouth moving.

Edit: yeah, Marge's voice is all over the place like Julie Kavner has breathing problems.

This isn't quite as recent, I think it was from last November, but Christ it sounds like she's got strep throat.

Yeah, the regular characters for the most part sound nothing like they used to any more. It's like the show turned into bootleg Simpsons over time except officially.

Have you heard Hank Azaria? Moe's voice sounds like a totally different character now, like Azaria can't do the same gruffness anymore so he makes his voice deeper to compensate. Harry Shearer too, his current Ned Flanders sounds too deep, and you can tell it's because of decades of wear and tear on Shearer's vocal cords.

It's not all that surprising, given that everyone's been doing it for 30 years and are significantly older, but it makes the show's continued, tortured existence all the more depressing.

Again, it's odd they don't just go there instead. It's an easy target. They could make all the ABBA, IKEA and Midsummer jokes all they want!

After season 10 it just got awful. Some shows can last past season 10 like South Park and Always Sunny but that's because they can be a lot more risque. Simpsons are on a broadcast channel so can't get anywhere near the level of raunchiness that those two can attain. That and the writers who made it great like Conan and Schwartzfelder are gone. I'm pretty sure Schwartzfelder doesn't write for them anymore. At least I hope not. Him and Conan wrote the best episodes for the series. Homer Goes to College (Conan returning from after he left for his own talk show) and the Cartridge Family (Schwartzfelder who is a giant gun nut) are some of the funniest episodes in the series. Both writers understood how to write Homer. Like a big dumb dog. Well-meaning, excited, and unpredictable. Now Homer is too dumb and an asshole.

I'm glad they don't have them in the show. They ruined Flanders and other great characters who were hilarious just by their subtleness. Now the show is a horrible parody of itself. Instead of jokes that are funny just by the writing and execution, you have side characters spoon feeding you why it's funny.

They've pulled that shit before where they construct a season finale episode to act like a series finale. I think the last one was the one where they go on a boat trip and Bart makes everyone think a virus has hit the world and the apocalypse is happening. Holidays of Future Past (which is an okay episode at best) was also constructed to act as a finale.

Plus, I doubt Fox would just end the show out of the blue without any fanfare. If they were finally ending the show they would announce that in advance to get as much advertising bucks as they can get.
