Ya know, it's weird to go back to some of the older seasons and see some of the foibles. Like the inconsistent address. I've noticed it in 2 episodes now. The one where Bart sicks Moe on Jimbo Jones, he gave Moe the address of 1094 Evergreen Terrace, and in Kamp Krusty they give the Simpsons address as 430 Spalding Way. I wonder if that was supposed to be a joke on the part of the early writers, never giving the Simpsons a cohesive address and it just sort of fell by the wayside with ideas like Marge having rabbit ears.
742 Evergreen terrace was Snakes address here.

For the life of me, I'll never understand the popularity of Billie Eilish. She comes across as your typical shopper at Hot Topic somehow got famous 20+ years too late. Perfect for the modern Simpsons which has been dead since the 2000's.
Shes the definition of an astroturfed celebrity. Her parents are music producers and her brother, who ghostwrites her songs, is classically trained. Her success is due to nepotism and the industry pushing her as the current big thing. Shes something old Simpsons would have mocked for being a manufactured product but current Simpsons will happily shill her because the show is a commercial for the current product.

Random thought that might have already been discussed but I wish that they did more with Selma. Selma in the golden age was a perfect tragic character trying her best to seek love and do whatever she could to find a husband.

She was lonely and so desperate that she was married to a murderer who was obviously trying to kill her nephew and a D list movie star who told her that he was using her for fame. Selma was so wonderfully written as this spinster who was lashing out at jealousy at how her little sister got a good man via her beauty and her twin is just happy to be alone (before the rug muncher thing).

I can never not feel for Selma when she was crying on the bonnet on her car because it was never a case of it being over for her, it never started. Maybe it's my inner femcel screaming at the top of her lungs but it hits deeper for women. You are not just a failure in every aspects of being a woman but you have to live with it as it rips you apart piece by piece, everyday.

My point is that now Selma's despair at her ugliness and loneliness is played as a joke. She gets married to the freak show of the week and it's sad. She married Grampa, Fat Tony, and other dudes who are just too forgettable to name.

I always thought it would of been a nice idea to pair her with Moe and let them both get past the "I'm ugly and nobody wants me, might as well kill myself" gags.

If The Simpsons from 2020+ was the only Simpsons, would they still be on the air?

(in other words the only reason the show is still on may be "riding on the fame" from the good episodes)

Part of it is riding on the fame and part of it is Fox not knowing what would replace it in that Sunday timeslot after thirty years on air.

While traditional television might not be as big of a deal in the age of streaming, replacing something as iconic and long-lasted as The Simpsons is still a serious consideration for Fox.

Or it would be if Disney didn't take over.

Already about 5 years since Di$ney took over the show?!

Honestly, if Disney didn't take over then I'd wager the show would be over by now.

IIRC, even Al Jean had seriously considered giving up after Season 30 and only agreed to two more seasons at the last second. Then the Rat got their hands on the show...

I imagine it'd be a similar story with Star Wars had Lucas never sold the rights to it.

Anyway I take it that Al Jean is still working on the show?

Hell, Star Wars pretty much was over before Lucas sold the rights to it back in 2012.

You still had games, novels, and other merchandise tie-ins but the main saga had concluded.

Just an excuse to add another nog. Bet she's saintly and patient with Bart rather than the satirically jaded, cynical, overworked teacher Mrs Krabappel was.

Also I thought Flanders was the new permanant 4th grade teacher.
Or she constantly calls Bart out on his shit and Bart just blindly accepts it.
