The show hates changing any amount of status quo unless a voice actor leaves or dies

Since Ms. Peyton is seemingly permanent, I'm guessing next year that Disney and Fox will have yet another two-season pickup where the series will be renewed for seasons 35 and 36, taking it one episode past 800.

I'm expecting to be seeing a lot more Ms. Peyton next season.

If they mention or show Edna Krabappel at all in this episode, God help us. "Diary Queen" was already uncomfortable enough, thank you.

Hopefully she's just a guest character because these clips don't encourage me to watch the latest Simpsons.
Kerry Washington joins The Simpsons cast as Barts new teacher — get a first look.mp4

Kerry Washington is a decent actress, that doesn't make her a good cartoon VA whatsoever.

Bart being a retard covering his face with Glue isn't a bad joke inherently. The thing is just like all shit Nu-Simpsons they stretch a joke to its limits.

I can never not feel for Selma when she was crying on the bonnet on her car because it was never a case of it being over for her, it never started. Maybe it's my inner femcel screaming at the top of her lungs but it hits deeper for women. You are not just a failure in every aspects of being a woman but you have to live with it as it rips you apart piece by piece, everyday.
Nah, when I was a kid I was unable to understand her situation completely but I still felt bad for her. The Simpson family was a conventional nuclear unit which made it even easier to see Selma's life was somehow not 'normal' - kids know even their teachers get married, and here Selma was still living with her sister and she's not young. Seeing her actual feelings and learning how deeply upset she was about that was intriguing, even a little shocking. Seeing a cartoon showing a grown person in turmoil even at their stage of life was just... fascinating and moving in some way.
My point is that now Selma's despair at her ugliness and loneliness is played as a joke. She gets married to the freak show of the week and it's sad. She married Grampa, Fat Tony, and other dudes who are just too forgettable to name.
Such a shame. Precisely what I took from those old episodes was that even plain and ugly looking people still want to be loved and they have to work harder at it, and being loved is more than a matter of being pretty enough to be liked.

simpsons s13e22
the Springshield one where Homer becomes a private security guy and replaces Chief Wiggum
at one point Radar Love plays on the radio and Homer starts loudly singing along with it
there's this cute sorta background (even if it's really in the foreground but it's not the focus of the shot) gag of Maggie flapping her arms and dancing

Nope. Caroline Omine said she's here to stay. As a recurring guest star.

I would not be posting this if it weren't permanent.
The joke around her is that she's more intelligent, motivated and competent than all of the other teachers. Also, she saved Bart's life once. Also Bart has a crush on her. And everyone else likes her too. You've heard the expression "let's get busy"? Well, this is a teacher who gets biz-zay! Consistently and thoroughly.

I'm just glad to see a woman of color portrayed as something other than a prostitute or a drug dealer. I was so relieved she didn't get raped or murdered even once the whole episode. America hasn't defeated racism yet -- not by a long shot -- but this is a step in the right direction.

she should be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine
