I actually came away from HOMR with a somewhat different takeaway than "You can't be happy if you're smart."
What I got from the episode is "Springfield is full of absolute dumbasses who are insanely hostile to anyone remotely smarter than them."

I mean, look at almost every "smart" character. Comicbook Guy, Lisa, Professor Frink, etc... almost all are portrayed as friendless outcasts. Springfield is full of people who aren't smart and hate anyone who is.

Ever heard of the theory that entire Simpsons cast is extremley intelligent? Marge and Bart can speak French, Lisa gets straight A's and plays an instrument, Maggie is far more developed than the average baby, and once you take out the crayon from Homer's cranium, he's an absolute genius. Abraham Simpson was a very competent soldier in WWII, but he might've been making it up.

Actually, Bart speaks French, Spanish, Japanese, Cantonese, and possibly Latin, scriptural latin anyways.

Well homer wouldn't last a day in the army but in the secret war of Lisa simpson Bart is a top tier solider able to take out skinner's car with a grenade launcher from god knows how far away while Lisa can't even control a rifle. Then later in mayored to the mob maggie took out four targets with a sniper rifle perfectly so really I guess being a soldier runs in the simpson blood but skips a generation

Not to mention it was implied as early as Season 5 that Homer was indeed in the Army, once when they mentioned him volunteering for medical experiments that resulted in baldness, giddiness, and loss of equilibrium.

In fact, in that episode the drill instructor says Homer left the Army one month before his contract was up.

As hard as it is to believe it looks like Homer was actually a soldier competent enough to get through the majority of his tour.

Homer was also in the Marines along with Barney, Moe and Apu.

if he marathoned every episode from then to now i'm damn impressed given how its estimated that it could take a person a month or so to watch every episode back to back non stop....and that's without factoring in meal or bathroom breaks.



also side not apparentyl the episode "The man who would be dinner." was at one point going to be a second Simpsons movie.

so kinda going off topic with this but should ls mark be considered a cow? i say no...sure he's a grown man talking about cartoons but they're a dime a dozen these days. and he does make legit god points about the medium and like you said he put a lot of time and effort into ranking every single episode of the simpsons. plus as far as i know hes not a politisperg on social media hell he said in the video as an Australian, American politics mean nothing to him.

This is the first time I've heard of the guy, so based on what little I know I would say no just because I haven't seen anything that would warrant giving him a thread. Granted if merely being a cartoon loving sperg was enough to get you one, I'd have to turn myself in lol
