You know what is getting tiring? How The Simpsons suppoaedly predicted God knows how many events lately.
Trump's election, the Capitol invasion, even an explosion in fucking Madrid this week has been "predicted" by the show somehow.

And every week there is some crappy article that begins with "Did The Simpsons predict (insert event here)?"
Hell even Disney plus is getting in on the "simpsons predict" bs. They actually have a collection of simpsons episodes titled that.....and for some reason the city of New York vs Homer is in that collection....ok either someone in charge of running the simpsons listings on Disney plus is a major troll or they really don't understand how memes work.

Well...in lighter news...dyk the ending of mother simpson where homer's just sitting on the hood of his car looking at the stars wondering if he'll ever see his mother again had to be fought for with the higher ups at Fox?

Some of the younger kiwis on here may not remember this, but back when Cable tv was king the credits of a show would often get shoved into a sidebar and the rest of the screen would be taken up by some promo for the network or upcoming shows. Well because this would have ruined the heartfelt ending the writers wanted out of the episode, they had to fight with the executives to not play any promos over the credits.

The Simpsons even satirized this exact thing you're describing in an earlier episode (Bart Gets Famous) where he invites his friends over to watch the credits of the Krusty the Clown Show so he can prove he works on the set, and the credits sequence gets distorted to make room for an insert of Kent Brockman promoting the news coming up later. As a I kid, I fucking hated it when shows did that.

I remember seeing the promos squeeze the credits out of the way back when I watched TV in the 2000s, which always annoyed me as a kid because there were some shows with kickass credits music. Honestly though I had no idea that was a thing back in the 90s either.

That episode was classic. Back when Conan O'Brien was one of the Simpsons writers and speaking of Conan.

and again at then of the episode where the family watched that movie about Noah's ark starring troy McClure. Just as god was about to tell the meaning of life or some message like that Kent brockman chimes in with the morning news.

Remember the time he ate my goldfish, and then you lied to me and said I never had any goldfish?

But why did I have the bowl, Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

You know whats most infuriating? All those shitty clickbait articles who go "The Simpsons predicted Trump" all use the pictures from the short they did when Trump announced his candidacy and rode down the escalator, not the episode where President Lisa mentions inheriting a budget crisis from President Trump. Its like they know their audience is so stupid that unless they have a picture referencing something from 5 years ago they won't click on the article.

I love the story where in the writing room for Cape Feare Conan jumped up on the table and acted out the bit where Homer goes "BARTYOUWANTTOSEEMYNEWCHAINSAWANDHOCKEYMASK!" to convince everyone else to include it in the episode.

I hated that, I think every network did that at one point. For the longest time I had no idea each episode of That '70s Show even had a scene during the closing credits until years later when it aired as re-runs. They didn't just squeeze the video down, they removed the outro entirely and added the closing credits themselves next to the promos.

Oh, and remember when Fox used to edit promos for shows, make up a fake scenario with out of context scenes, etc.? Then you'd watch the show and it would be completely different.
I still remember the promo for the season 4 premiere episode of King of the Hill where Peggy's parachute didn't open. The announcer said "SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH BOBBY!" and showed a clip of him kicking the vending machine (because the chocolate bar didn't come out) and Hank saying, "Bobby?!", another clip of him freaking out (because he was the one doing all the work taking care of GH and fed up), and then Cotton saying "HE'S POSESSED!" (referring to GH's "witch's milk"). I also remember clips of Malcolm in the Middle where they dubbed in different dialogue than what was actually in the episode.

HAHAHA, it's funny you mention that, because I was just pondering the same exact thing yesterday when rewatching some old Simpsons. I recall specially when I was a little kid and seeing the promo commercials for "Bart Gets Famous" before the episode aired, and one of the gags in the commercial was Bart being alone in his room being sad about being a celebrity, and saying "I don't even feel like a human being anymore." Homer overhears it and screams, "AHHHH, HE'S NOT A HUMAN BEING ANYMORE!" and just thinking it was hilarious...but then being disappointed that it wasn't even featured in the episode. Movie trailers do the same thing by showing deleted scenes: 2 in particular that come to mind are Half Baked and the original Austin Powers. I remember the seeing clips in the TV trailers that were never in the actual movies themselves, and being confused by assuming the video I rented had footage cut out.

Homer's death in "One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish", 30 years ago now (January 24, 1991)

so a little late to mention but this guy l.s mark made a ranking on every single episode from 1989 to 2021

if he marathoned every episode from then to now i'm damn impressed given how its estimated that it could take a person a month or so to watch every episode back to back non stop....and that's without factoring in meal or bathroom breaks.

also side not apparentyl the episode "The man who would be dinner." was at one point going to be a second Simpsons movie.
