HAve you noticed, she suggests that people dress as her as a good example?

For starters, she does have a good Leto Joker smile.

I found it so ironic that a website called "The Mary Sue" would back up Daisy Ridley with her assertion that Rey isn't a Mary Sue because it's "sexist"... Bitch(es), have you ever heard of Galen Marek?! The man out-sues every gender, (even the Tumblr ones), by miles and I don't think anyone's calling that assertion sexist!

That reminds me, I kind of want to play the two Force Unleashed games. How are they? :P

I haven't played the second but the first is alright. The combat mechanics are pretty shallow, but throwing things/people around with the force is amazingly fun.

Edit: And this goes without saying, but I'm not talking about the Wii version, which was a joke.

The engines are fun to have play out. The story, however, is another matter, as quite literally every major player in Star Wars bends over forwards for Galen Marek and he single-handedly is behind everything important in the Original Trilogy. There's a reason George Lucas refused to say his name and it's probably one of the biggest reasons why Disney made the EU non-canon.

He is a Gary Stu like a massive one but...oddly I don't have an issue with it?. He's not a straight black and white character and he has his good, well written moments of conflict and change They same with Rey who I'm okay with as a character. I don't think Mary Sues are always a BAD thing. Most heroes are a Sue of some degree. They have to be. It's the over the top perfect ones who are just untouchable that are just a little tiring. (Aka, the fanfic Sue insertions)

But yeah. Polite sage for offtopic, obviously. I go into autist mode about Star Wars EU stuff. It's a terrible affliction.

These recent posts make me miss that thread about the manosphere & alt-right people whining about Star Wars. It was funny. :heart-empty:

Can we reopen it or make a new one when Rogue One is released?

Depends on if there's any significant amount of whining I suppose.

As a side I'm morbidly curious as to what kinda crazy ass fandom wank Rogue One will cause on tumblr, other than everyone being hot and bothered by Krennic and the Jyn/Krennic ship probably becoming another thing where if you like it you're a horribly soggy knees that literally thinks women should be abused and raped (though an even more fucked up m/m ship is a okay).

Wonder if TMS will even get to write an article insisting that one of the male characters is totally just an SJW strawmen of a goobergater made just for them?

I wasn't aware that Squirrel Girl had a big fanbase amongst the SJW crowd or whatever. Steven Universe yes, but not Squirrel Girl. Of course, if that's true then I guess it would make sense.

Personally, that one Doctor Doom comic where he gets defeated by Squirrel Girl kind of turned me off the comic. It's like those movies where the main action hero (be it guy or girl) regularly defeats people he (or she) should not be able to. If it's played straight (Alan Moore), it comes across as an author-insert type thing, which is off-putting. If it's played with that slightly annoying self-aware humour (Deadpool) it's usually forgiven and develops a fanbase.

My issue is that Squirrel Girl seems to lean towards a middleground. On one hand, she defeats enemies incredibly far out of her league (Galuctus, I think) in comics with a humourous tone. But, she also does it with just enough of a feminist empowerment message that it's played straight enough to become off-putting.

This is why One Punch Man is so interesting. He wants to have a challenge, but he's so overpowered, he can't be. He's actually kind of bored being a superhero because of it.

Have you ever read that Mad comic about the purposefully overpowered superhero Fantabulaman. Where the joke is essentially that there is never any drama because he can't lose?

For instance, in one comic Fantabulaman goes on strike and refuses to save the world from a meteor. Yet, because of his power he manages to save the world while literally doing nothing. There's also a kind of preachy comic where Fantabulaman is turned into a girl.

"Now you're still all-powerful, but no one will care."

"That was another villain calling to say he no longer fears you."

"So, I'm so powerful that I win even against myself?"

Squirrel Girl is a bit of an acquired taste, and hasn't been helped by the memetic status of the character. Her current ongoing is pretty self aware, and there's really only one or two issues I wouldn't recommend (the arc with Mole Man trying to date her is pretty bad). Overall the series is very good though and doesn't take itself too seriously. The Mole Man arc is probably the only really bad example of gender politics making it into the comic, and was only really hurt by being a multi-issue story.

I just remember one panel of Squirrel Girl where she was bitching at Galactus about pronouns.

I mean, if it was casual bitching I get it, it could be funny, but the pronoun thing made me think it was taking itself seriously and awaiting for the 23000 notes on tumblr masturbating over it.

Which they did.

I doubt that a cosmic being that has existed before this universe did actually gives a shit if you're a "xir" or a "bunself".
