The problem is even if they can stop the demand for fanservice in America, Japan won't care.

I can name five sources of entertainment off the top of my head where female characters are motivated by something that isn't rape. Do they only watch GoT?

Also it's hilarious how they're treating those headcanons like they creators actually honest-to-god declared "CANDELA'S A LESBO, BLANCHE IS A HERM, AND SPARK HAS A VAG/IS A PERMAVIRIN." Based on their looks, too.
Yeah, and the slightly effeminate-looking man I saw at the grocery store today must definitely be a flaming homosexual, right? /sarcasm

I've seen fans reduce countless characters to a joke or meme that is a far cry from what they actually are (ahem, Touhou), but I'd almost say this takes the cake.

Kind of late but I've researched this subject before.

What are they're thoughts on woman drawing a lot of fanservice manga they hate in Japan? Or for that matter, Eroge? (Porn games for the non weebs.) People in Japan are so used to fanservice that the woman don't care anymore, they know sex sells. A lot of the female Eroge artists like drawing porn anyway.

Japan itself would get more from the domestic market (and if applicable other foreign markets) than in America. Even if they tried to get rid of fan-service through something like a localization, it's not going to stop imports on unedited versions. Like @Urban Superstition said, the basement dwellers will pay more than some rambling SJW that probably doesn't even buy the product.

It makes one wonder how many will accuse a Japanese woman of being a sellout despite said Japanese woman not giving a fuck. Then again, that answer would be obvious.

Japan in general doesn't complain about this kind of stuff, they generally don't care. Wish they could learn something from them.

If they learned to not give a fuck about fanservice in media, that means not flailing their arms and whining about shit no one else cares about.
 
I don't think the content creators would ever cross their mind. After all, they managed to write a whole article assuming alt-right weeaboos are the face of anime, rather than, you know, Japanese people. Japan might as well be a giant pop culture factory for America, the way some people put it.

The article as a whole is hilariously poorly-timed. Now more than ever, female fans are seen as a viable market for anime companies. This past summer season might be the first we've ever seen manservice shows outnumber male-targeted stuff. And guess what they're making? Problematic shite! Shows where men sexually harass one woman all day long, but it's okay because they're attractive! Shows with rape portrayed as romantic! One show with a dude that falls in love with his preteen little brother just got greenlit for another season! Because women are capable of being just as disgusting as men!
