For a grand, you could get a playset of everything from Alpha proxied and could (probably) buy a recent booster box afterward.
I could justify the cost of Magic 30 somewhat since you're basically buying packs/singles/playmats on top of what's essentially a con pass, but I can't even try to fathom these whale packs.

I'm normally a bit of a MtG shill but at this point, Chang is a better offer than whatever this crap is. Really the whole collectors booster thing in each set will probably come back to bite them in the ass as you can't just pump foils and alt art versions in such a high capacity and have it work out. They should have just done Set boxes with some bonus shit if they wanted to drive up prices, as right now every collectors pack has just shit the bed and I can't imagine people buying them long term like they would with draft or set boxes which can at least be fun to draft or to open in the future.

Just an update for those who don't follow the community, there's been ongoing drama with everything since the 30th anniversary thing and more and more people are pissed about all of the products. Analysts have provided a double downgrade on the Hasbro stock while the CFO retired and the vice president of Wizards going out and asking why Standard as a format is dead.

Anyone who shilled FTX is a retard, as they should have known how fucked the promises them and Blockfi were giving. Though really the big tip off should have been all the finance youtubers like MeetKevin, Graham Stephan, and others were shilling it. I think even Jim Cramer joined in at one point and that guy is the kiss of death for most investment vehicles.

At first I sorta liked Desolator because he trash talked WotC and other trash MTG youtubers, and I also sorta enjoyed seeing him make bizzare 78 card decks with tons of 1-ofs because "It was the mathmatically appropriate amount for this effect I was going for" but the way he just goes on and on about himself really got tiring after a while. Yeah ok dude, you get 50k views a day and you have this smoking hot girlfriend from China who we can't see because she hasn't come overseas to visit yet but things are super serious and also your side hustle doing super 1337 haxx0ring contract work makes you 6 figures.

I once challenged my playgroup to watch an entire Daddy Des video from start to finish. Offered 5 bucks to anyone who could claim in good faith they made it.

Six of them tried, none of them made it past halfway.
