Old interview with Erin Campbell, a trans MtG player.
https://thegamehuntress.wordpress.com/2014/07/15/one-geekified-interview-erin-campbell/
In it they state that they would give up MtG for another hobby if they had to give up one hobby. Not much of a gamer to have on a MtG podcast from The Magic Show which is the only thing that channel now focuses on. Typical shit about wanting to increase female representation in the hobby even though there are a good amount of female gamers in it. Soon after this person joined The Magic Show the channel saw less and less views and dropped subscribers. There weren't anymore set reviews like there were and even spoilers were far and inbetween.

I swear people forget that women are different than men, why not ask why women don't like the game? RPG's and video games tend to be where women go, boardgames and card games don't interest them much.

For whatever reason, magic attracts a huge number of "Women in Magic" think-pieces penned by transgender people.

Certainly these people can have an interesting perspective on their hobby, I just think it's so fucking weird that they want to make sweeping generalizations about how to attract women to a hobby they started participating in without suffering any of the negatives that push women away.

Doesn't help that they either played before they transitioned or they started to play for the ass pats. You even see that in games like Warhammer, trans players complaining there are no women in the game. Like yeah not a lot of people like being around weird looking ogres unless they're in plastic form.

You certainly can't say that about games like D&D, majority of podcasts have female players. some of the podcasts are older than modern SJW's complaining about "representation" in gaming too.

Yugioh is dying, mostly due to the mishandling from Konami and how unbalanced the game became. Though the way Magic is going, it'll die pretty quickly too.

I've been to MTG gatherings (for a friend who wanted to introduce me to the game) and I couldn't find one guy who wasn't obese and looked like the human equivalent to pizza.

Funny thing is it's all scrawny nerds at the place I play for the most part. There are only a handful of really big fellas at my shop, YMMV though. I'd say something like 3/5th's are fairly normal sized and 1/5th kinda big and 1/5th super obese.

Place I used to play only had one obese guy no one wanted to be near. The rest were either skinny nerds, normal people or girls. Same goes with the last tournament I went to. Two overweight people the rest were normal people, though only two women at it.

The worse we had it was that at this one shop the bathroom smelled of death and another one that had no working plumbing because the store owner didn't want to do anything about it.

I once played some dude at a competition who looked like he was straight up about to shoot up a school @FuckYou style he glared at me the entire game and didn't say anything. I am a chatty player and like to verbalize my actions (i/e saying out loud "I tap two mana, cast this, blah blah blah") . I beat him 2-0 and after the round he yelled "YOU KNOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY EVERYTHING OUT LOUD"

Also there was this really annoying autistic guy. Super weapons grade Chris Chan autism. You can bet he creeped on the awkward 3/10 Megan Schroeder type. I think every game shop has a Chris Chan. Shit, I even got one here in China.

Worse player I had was the large guy no one wanted to play against. He was Boogie2988 size or bigger, smelled of BO, rotten milk, and chocolate. I swear the only way he won games is because no one could stand the smell. Luckily he'd spend an hour in the shop before leaving and wheezing because every step was about to kill him and the act lifting his case of decks was like Sisyphus rolling the boulder up the mountain. Luckily the place had good ventilation so none of us were breathing in bio mustard gas.

So who's ready for a "supposed" anti-semitic store owner who lost his WPN (Wizards Play Network) with WotC. Thinking it "may" have been something he said.

Unsleevemedia fans complaining that a LGS owner has done the mandatory background checks yet and of course they shit their pants thinking the person is hiding things.

These people seem to think that every store has a website. From what I've found some are lucky to even bother with a Facebook account. Some that even do that don't bother to update them. Here, there's about three stores without one. One that updates their Facebook account but rarely updates their store webpage and comic book stores that run FNM but don't advertise it often.

what the fuck did I just read?

I live around a college town, and most of the guys in my card shop are pretty alright. They're not to hopeful for magics future tho, which is kind of a shame since I've only just hopped into the game. Even the Standard format is kinda losing it's luster on account of decks getting really expensive to craft for the current set.

Real winners play gwent anyways...

Edit: Most of the actual manchildren go to the comic shop literally a block away to play D&D with the local Wizard's rep. Not the best place to be to put it lightly, though even some of those guys aren't really pathetic besides sharing the weight issue.

Modern is the best format friend, it's a bit pricey but there is some actual interesting things with it and you don't have to dump a bazillion dollars on it like legacy. Though legacy is pretty fucking awesome if you can afford it or have the cards for it.

With Modern Masters sets it's easier to get into Modern than it used to be and many of the cards released find their way into Legacy and even EDH, though not a lot of places do competitive EDH. Just check out places like Massdrop for good box prices. Booster boxes are insanely overpriced now.

Yeah MM17 was really damn good, I pulled a foil Scalding Tarn and a LotV that I used to get a SP Tundra. 8)
