If the last 20+ years have taught me anything, their only plan so far has been to shuffle money about in the housing market, try and sweet talk holywood, fallate the CCP while selling them the family silver (there is a good reason a 20 year old F&P washing machine goes for hundreds on trademe) and overly rely on agricultural sector while actively attempting to fuck over the agricultural sector every step of the way.

Forced labour camps out in the ass-end of nowhere or overcrowded prisons? I'm sure they'd love to try that, but as a caveat - winters are mild here, summers are not that hot and you can technically drive from Invercargill to Kaitaia in around 24 hours if you try.
That would require the state to plough more money into prison facilities (in which they currently don't have enough guards) or just throw it at serco.

I'm sure they'd call it a "15 minute city" or something similar, just shove everyone into those cheap as fuck, 10-20 people to a room, apartment complexes and then the elites in your country can ignore them while pretending that they solved the "poor problem."

Wellington being my favourite example where they replaced large amounts of on street parking and entire lanes of roadway with cycle lanes and cracked down bars and nightlife at great expense. All it did was kill small business, annoy locals make people leave the area. They were the first major city here to measurably get smaller.
Not only that - but because the council there is mostly labour/green party acolytes (the last mayor was a former green party staffer who did little more than get drunk, proposition strange men in restaurant toilets and whine about muh mentals) they voted for all of this at the expense repairing the cities ancient and crumbling water infrastructure. During summer the waste water plant on the south side of the city failed catastrophically - pumping raw sewage into the neighbouring beaches. Hilariously the city
then voted in the guy who Horseface was parachuted in to replace in the 2017 Labour party election. (As a fun thought, I wonder if we're allowed to make a general lolcow thread on ex/failed politicians/polticially adjacent figures?

I mention all of this is supposed to the same country where all the billionaires are supposed to run away too in the event of doomsday and to re-enforce the fact that while yes I generally agree our politicians are going to try, no I don't think they're going to succeed.
