The "why should I stand for the Flag or be patriotic in my new country" post is wild. "I won't be patriotic until everything is exactly the way I want it!" Yes, give the native population even more reasons to resent you, hate you, and want to see you sent home to India. The more arrogant you act, the more disrespectful to the native culture, the less you assimilate (yes, assimilation means abandoning your culture for the culture of your new country, at the very least when you're out in public), the more the citizens of your new country will hate you and want you removed. And yes, you absolutely should be grateful towards your new country for allowing you the opportunity and PRIVILEGE of being there. Immigration is not a right. The more this smug, superior, ungrateful behavior and attitude continues, the more the citizens of your new country will hate you and want you removed. Right now it's just illegal aliens and visa abusers for the most part. There are some who want denaturalization, and that sentiment will grow unless the newcomers assimilate, integrate, and start showing gratitude. Then again, things might not reverse or even halt where they are. Could be there's no turning back from what has begun, and you'll start seeing native US citizens start pushing for more and more nationalist/nativist policies like denaturalization and remigration of anyone from incompatible, third-world countries. They'll start voting for populist, nationalist, anti-immigrant candidates who truly believe that America is more than an idea and that it takes much, much more than just immigrating here legally to be an American. It actually means becoming culturally American. It means being loyal and patriotic. I truly believe we will be moving in that direction and that the Overton Window will continue to move to the Right.
