Why do they contradict themselves about this building? They said they had 4 gas chambers for delousing and a fifth secret chamber that was used for killing. This plan shows none of that. I thought they had definitive evidence of how these facilities were used. Or did they invent and change their story repeatedly to backfill a narrative that was created first?
The delousing chambers are marked with a "1" on the floor plan. There are 5 of them, and a sixth identical room that now has wooden doors and was converted into a toilet.
They are tiny rooms next to each other at the south most entrance to the building.
Funny enough, the steel doors that are found installed in the shower room can't be closed.
The entrance door is installed so slanted that it is permanently stuck open.
The exit is not stuck to the floor but it's impossible to close it.
The locking latches of the frame make it impossible to close the door.
Sloppy Job OSS
There obviously used to be 6 delousing chambers and the OSS took off the steel doors of the east most and put them on the shower room.
It's important to remember this is the first "gas chamber" that got "discovered".
And that the OSS spread the rumor of gas coming out of the showerheads amongst the prisoners of the Germans long before the end of the war, so they tried to recreate the already existing rumor here and failed.
Or did they invent and change their story repeatedly to backfill a narrative that was created first?
The problem was that they had to combine the existing witness testimony, which just parroted the rumors they themselves spread among the prisoners, with the evidence found in the camps. However, it wasn't possible to make the buildings fit those rumors. Gas being piped into a fake shower room via sophisticated industrial means is a lot harder to fake than dropping some Zyklon B pellets on the floor.
