im watching some cringe exposition segment on youtube, the kind of section where every other game would have you just staring at an animation of a character talking. this game's almost got the exact same thing going on except in this game the animation has the little old lady walking around and constantly making/breaking eye contact with you, so you have to follow them around and walk into their trail of cigarette smoke to engage with the thing they're saying

like, it's still cringe, i think the voice acting for aiden is bad, the execution is kind of mid, but it's the composition of the whole thing that's a cut above the rest. they understand blocking! my god, i can't recall the last game to bother to do that. you can excluse an inordinate amount the execution being rough around the edges as long as the core meat of the thing has a concept being executed that's not brainless slop
That's why I'm enjoying the game so much. The game was clearly made on a shoestring budget compared to any current western studio's project, it's janky and flawed. Yet you can easily tell that the developers did care about what they were doing. It has a... SOVL, for lack a better descriptor, that the vast majority of big releases don't have, and nowadays you only really see in very few indie passion projects. That palpable care goes way above and beyond in making me overlook its shortcomings.

I appreciate that they came up with something original instead just making a carbon copy of a movie character
This is from 90s comics (not grandma herself, the whole deal with multiples of them, all fathered by specificalky designed cenobite).

I wish they took some cenobite designs from these, too, modern comics has really bad ones, or just uses original four.

One thing that always makes me chuckle when I think about it is how on Earth does nobody question where all of these missing people are? There's literally thousands upon thousands of corpses strewn about through the cultist basement and other sections, yet only a single cop is sent to investigate and he gets merc'd instantly. "Oh hello officer. No, these corpses were here when we got here. Honest! Just ignore the blood pool room or the gore fountain, that wasn't us either."

Orno also comes from those old Epic comics, I believe.
I also remember they had some really cool Cenobites and some really silly ones, like the Vietnam veteran with guns or an old librarian lady.
Aside from the original four I really liked Angelique, Wire Twins and (regular) Twins. Torso would be cool too if he wasn't just upper half of Chatter.

Anyone know if I can use mouse and keyboard with this on Ps5? You can in Battlefield, for example. I'm still on the edge of buying this or not.
The answer to this is no by the way, I ended up getting it for Ps5 and tried it out. Was a little disappointing that I couldn't mkb it on the console but the game itself is decent.

I am a bit confused about the troon.

I am under the impression that the idea there was that they were a pooner, and when they did the ritual, they transformed into a six-armed floating man in a fleshy dress.

Do I have this right?

There was a note in the club left by a guy who really enjoyed being fucked by him, so I assumed it's a regular troon. The voice also sounds like a dude pretending to be a woman.

Yeah my mistake, what confused me about it was that I thought top surgery only applies to lopping off boobs and they mentioned having it. I have since learned it also includes bolt-ons apparently.

Trying to rescue your awful girlfriend from a hellish dimension where she was ripped apart by hooks (after she gives you a vision where she asks you to rescue her), "An object to be won back, infantilized". Oh, tv tropes.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing, but reading most of the notes, listening to recordings related to it and hearing it speak with Marlowe, I think it was a faggot so enamored with Marlowe that it tried to become the "perfect woman" for him. The jealousy, murderous rage towards women in the cult and meltdowns after being transformed by the configuration because Marlowe stopped giving it attention give me a very strong vibe of a MtF troon. True to life, one might say.
Made me think, didn't one of the comics try implying they can not even actually fuck and resent it?
Honestly, I think we (and many of the writers of these side stories) fundamentally misunderstand what the Cenobites are and their ultimate goals. Yes, originally they were extreme perverts, gooners, whatever. They've fried their brains in sensation-seeking. But that's when they're still human. Looking at their behavior after becoming Cenobites, I kind of see them as very twisted versions of monks, trying to obtain "enlightenment", a full understanding of the universe through the lens of Leviathan and their twisted nature. Throughout the game they show utter contempt for all the members of the hedonistic cult, even for their so called prophet, who himself states in a written collectible he has no desire to meet the Cenobites again. The only character they seem to have any regard / magnanimity towards is Aidan, perhaps because they see someone who could join and aid their "quest" by his nature. I really don't think gooning is the Cenobites' endgame.

JFC, "noble". No, they just don't give a shit about anything but their goals, and have no need to lie to anyone because they know the people they're dealing with far better than the subjects themselves. The faggots who wrote this just vomit whatever post-modern bullshit their college degree sculpted into their facsimile of a brain with a chisel for brownie points.

Tbh, that goes kinda against some of the movie stuff (that is clearly sexualised), but then again, this one is a separate canon.

My own bullshit writing (long-divorced from Hellraiser) ended in vaguely the same aesthetical postal code, but fully at the "purification through suffering" endgame.

Some guy actually left a bigass note in an edit, complaining that niggers there keep yapping about "consent", where cenobites AT BEST consider a lot of things as such, at worst, do not care unless you are a tard who did not mean it.
