Metro Last Light ranger mode was a goddamn waste compared to the 2033 version. One less weapon slot, greatly reduced drops and ammo capacity in exchange for double the throwing knives, that's it. LL had a much more polished weapon upgrade and trading system, but as far as I'm concerned, those are just quality of life improvements. 2033 ranger hard is the only proper way to play those games. I also miss the "stealth armour is the only logical choice since two hits kill you anyway" that was changed to "and y find bigger and better armour at the most convenient locations".

DmC had a pointlessly unnecessarily edgy plot and characters that were completely shit, but the gameplay was just as tight as Devil May Cry 3 or 4, and that's what really counts. You can skip the scenes but not the game itself.

Speaking of which, the only Metal Gear game I've ever played is Rising Revengeance, and I regret nothing. At least it's fun to play and Kojima's insanity was kept to a minimum.

I prefer Gothic 1-3 to post-Morrowind Elder Scrolls.

I weep whenever I remember Alpha Protocol never got a sequel.

I didn't enjoy Dark Souls, at all. The Hydra boss battle where I fell through the fully textured and apparently solid floor multiple times was the point where I dropped the game.

On a different note I don't like Spyro and honestly have never liked it. I bought the remaster trilogy and came upon this realization somewhere in the half-way through the first game and I still completed the trilogy for some reason.

I don't usually finish games legitimately, I'll either get through them 3/4ths and stop, watch speedruns of the game, or console command my way through the entire game. I don't know why, I just consistently cheat at videogames. Granted I don't play much anymore at all but I console'd kill all in FO3 at the washington monument, stuff like that. TBOI AND Rebirth? Downloaded 100 percent files, Gungeon the same. Odds are if I can cheat I probably will, then i'll get bored and surf KF.
I know what thread this is, but why do you even bother playing games?

Anyway, that reminds me: I never beat some of the games I got as a kid, like Pac-Man World 3 and Elebits. Didn't get too hard for me, I just got bored of them and never felt like going back to finish. This included Luigi's Mansion until Dark Moon was on the verge of coming out.

Did anyone mention locking the butler in the fridge yet? Because you know we all did that.

I like Deadly Towers and Fester's Quest. I rented them all the time as a kid and eventually bought them. Deadly Towers had more potential. It was just flawed. Enemy spawn rate is too high, it's too easy to fall to your death and a map feature would have been nice. But you can always draw one I guess.

I was once a complete slave to my Insatiable Rockstar Games Obsession, I Brought GTA 5 thrice, pre ordered the collectors edition on Ps3, back In 2013, with additional merch, again on PS4 for Its launch in 2014, And again on Steam In mid 2015 on a whim I couldn't resist being sucked Into the seemingly limitless well of heists and content the game provides. Not so much today, but I was pretty much in Shut-In mode with the amount of hours I pour into the sandbox genre.

Also I unironically love Sonic game OSTs, to the point of having a hundred of tracks on my spotify,, sorry Im a degenerate :(😔🕹
I too am a degenerate. I have GTA V on 360, PS4 & Xbox One and have Sonic osts on my computer.

The Sonic thing ain't bad, series usually has good music but buying GTA V three times is a sin.

I didn't even know Fester's Quest was considered a bad game until relatively recently, I really liked it. Blaster Master, Gremlins 2, Fester's Quest all had the thing that I liked in Sunsoft games: the same fucking engine and similar mechanics. In my opinion Fester's Quest is better than Gremlins 2 and G2 is a pretty decent game.

Mario games have been fairly hit-or-miss over the last 20 years, and the best one (and my personal favorite) is often considered to be Super Mario Bros. 3. If you don't like that one, you can safely shelve the series for the rest of your life.

If you tried to play any New Super Mario Bros. and couldn't get into it, I don't blame you. Those are developed by Nintendo's B-team and tend to be not as good as the mainline ones. They're okay, not that replayable, they're sort of like milquetoast romhacks that play it as safe as possible. New Super Mario Bros. 2 was especially considered one of the worst ones.

Super Mario 64 was incredible when it was new, so a lot of the rampant love for it came from people who played it back then, when they were kids. If you're just now wanting to get into 3D platformers and you've never really played one, honestly, I'd recommend Psychonauts instead.

And if you want a 2D platformer but can't gel with Mario, try Rayman Legends or Origins.

I liked the 4 player one on Wii, because my husband and I could play together with the kids.

You didn't fall through the floor. If you go too far out, you'll hit the drop off, something lakes and other bodies of water have IRL.

I've read up heavily on Dark Souls lore and find a lot of it enjoyable (aside from how the series ended and some other things here and there), but I've never been able to get all the way through any of the games because they're such a slog to play. I've watched most of the series on Youtube.

When people tell me to play a video game because of either good gameplay or good story, I don't really touch it because I need a damn good reason for it. And by damn good reason, I mean I need a really dumb reason to play a game and see it to the end.

For example, here are a few games I've played for months and have not placed down until I finished it or grew tired of playing:
  • League of Legends: Twisted Fate dances Gangnam Style. That's it. Otherwise I sucked at the game.
  • Tales of the Abyss: Jade Curtiss and the "LUKE DID NOTHING WRONG" argument. Wanted to debunk that argument, but was quickly proven wrong and have faithfully sided with the fact that, indeed, Luke did nothing wrong.
  • Conception 2: Children of the Seven Stars (I think that's the complete title): The word "classmating" alone and of itself, the jingle you hear when the act of classmating occurs, and the other jingle you hear when creating your star child. Oh, and that one cute girl with the dual hair colors.
  • Fire Emblem, more specifically the latest game 3 Houses: Dimitri. That's it.

I keep trying to get into turn-based titles despite how consistently I bounce off them. I did find a few I managed to stick with (Shadow Hearts series, Legend of Dragoon, BoF III and IV, SMT 3), but there's a lot more I've tried to get into and couldn't.

ETA: Luke indeed did nothing wrong.

I absolutely can't enjoy Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. I can appreciate them on a technical level, but Rockstar's games normally fail to evoke any emotion other than boredom in me.

To be frank, this tends to happen with most open-world games that are not RPGs. There are some exceptions, such as Breath of the Wild, but this kind of game normally does nothing for me.

On that RPG note, the last Elder Scrolls game I truly appreciated was Morrowind. I found Oblivion lifeless and Skyrim barely counts as a RPG for me.

I think Mass Effect: Andromeda could of been good and warrant sequels if they had stuck to their guns and released single player dlcs. :optimistic: Story wise it would not make sense if Rider and crew was Shep and Normandy 2.0, he/she just got the gig and has to grow into it, Shepard was seasoned member of military from the get go. Seeing how quick they dropped support for it made me skip Anthem even on a sale or EA Play (no regrets there) and wonder about Dragon Age 4. My BioWare loyalty can only take so many hits.

When I was replaying Sonic 3 and Knuckles when I got a real Genesis, I avoided all the giant rings in the S&K stages so I could keep using my super forms throughout the entirety of them. Think I'll do emeraldless runs of all the Genesis Sonic games (excluding 1) on real hardware one of these days...

I loved Dark Souls 1 & 2 but always seem to get bored of 3 before I finish a playthrough. I can't really put my finger on why because it's a great game, the best in the series as far as gameplay. Just doesn't draw me in like the others.

Also never finished Witcher 3. Really enjoy it but it always becomes a drag for me.
