It looks like :autism: concentrated into a furby.
 
The red, blue, yellow and green color scheme is a popular color choice for small children because it's bright and attractive to them. It's all there is to it. But yeah, it's pretty garish on that Furb.
 
Furby Tumblr's overreaction to this thread is silly. No one's trying to harass people off the internet over a damn children's toy. It's just fascinating to see how deep this rabbit hole goes.
 
I dated a guy when I was 19 that legitimately believed that certain Furbies were actually government spies.

I'd actually rather listen to him talk about Furbies then these nutjobs.

The only thing of interest I've seen concerning these things since the late 90s is a guy who rigged a bunch of them to an organ, with each key causing a specific Furby to "sing" a specific note. It was an admittedly neat concept, but was still creepy as all hell.

Wizard Furb seems trustworthy.

GOD this thread is great. I was actively part of the original Furby craze in '98. I was like, 9, so I was the exact target audience. They were sold out everywhere but my mom dug around on eBay and found one for me (thanks mom!). I subsequently brought it to school to show off and be the hippest kid in my class, but the thing wouldn't shut up so I got sent home for being a disruption. No ragrets

This thread got me wondering if some other childhood toys had a fandom. In particular, I was really hoping for a tamagotchi fandom.

Didn't find one but I did find a whole ton of fanfiction
