I was busy NEETing around at the heyday of Furby. Knew somebody that worked at a daycare, dumb lucked into a half dozen of them at a store in the middle of the day, flipped them through the daycare in a week for a decent profit.

Never dabbled in toy hustling after that.

I genuinely want to make a snake furby. I can't stop laughing at it when I see it in the thread, please stop me.
 
I'm...both bewildered and amused at the existence of this community. I remember when the Furby craze was covered in my fourth-grade class' Current Events subject. I kinda wanted a Furby badly, but never asked for one due to my being unable to hear very well, so I settled for McDonald's Happy Meal non-talking Furby toys instead. In retrospect it seems I'm probably better off without that accursed 90's toy...

Anyway, have a cute fanart of Furby I saved a long time ago (from an artist's Tumblr blog, no less)

I’ll admit when people draw them like this or in a more “kawaii” form the species is appealing. It’s kind of interesting that they’re a cross species.
People going overboard and calling them trans is stupid though.

I found a Christmas furby in the closet of my old bedroom.

Now I'm wondering who would actually obsess over one just like it, or if some furbs are more equal than others.

I've seen a few people mention how they were hard to get for a period of time in the late 90s.

Was that an American phenomenon? I don't recall them ever being sold out or bought by third party sellers. Every kid in elementary school had at least 2

Gross. I can see wanting the rainbow or pastel rainbow one, but that one triggers me tism.

I really should. I have no attachment to it other than my mother getting it from a junk store some time ago as a gag Christmas present. But at the same time, it begs to be gutted and modded into tacky Christmas decor.
