I remember playing FFTA and, god, the grinding is unworthy.
But Paladin is the best class.
At least game has a bittersweet ending, unlike the tragedy in FFT.

Advance sucks ass and you're retarded for souring your first time experience of a legendary game that kicked off Disgaea which is my personal favorite (psp ps2 port game), only for gameplay reasons though since the story is mediocre to me.
So far I’ve only played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 1. Since there aren’t any story characters who swoop in and completely outclass the others, there’s incentive to build a balanced party.

My main gripe is that first totem boss. Three dragons that do AoE breath attacks every turn while you’re capped at like four dudes total. And you didn’t grab that moogle girl with Ultima Shot, the final boss is basically a soft lock.

Tactics whole reward is the plot and lore, if you are into reading. Advance has no such lore or story to get invested in which makes the gameplay purposeless. You're better off just playing Disgaea's psp port with nearest neighbor rendering (since the spritework and art shines better) if you want gameplay.

It's a fucking medieval inspired war game and should have stayed as much. Despite the dark tone it gives me a sense of wonder and intrugue that FFVI/FFVII/FFIX gives. Literally no other game exists to fill in the void FFT leaves imo, at least its replayable.

Disgaea's Prinnies are the best thing ever btw.

Tbh I actually enjoyed Advance's "anti-isekai" plot. It wasn't as intriguing as the original PS1 version, but I wasn't expecting any deep political war happening in the story, and the philosophical idea of what people were willing to sacrifice for the sake of power. Even then, the story still had some thought provoking moments, so that was cool.

My only main gripe with the game is that, ok, Tactics has some glaring flaws, but Advance has basically double the negatives and half the positives compared to FFT's gameplay (screw the law system, screw the JP system, I like the quest system but screw the ones that you need a specific item from a specific quest AND you still have a chance to fail), but it's still a good game regardless.

Oh I remember that boss now, I actually managed to first try it like a true gamer, but what really saved me was my crippling Potion and Phoenix Down addiction lol.

Real and straight, I remember a Paladin of mine who used to deal 200+ damage around level 15, pretty nuts actually.

I've only played Disgaea 2, and I can't define how much I love these doods. I used to have 4 of them in the early game and spammed Prinny Barrage like no tomorrow.

Disgaea gets slept on too much, they're good games with solid gameplay and lots of personality. Highly recommend them to anyone who likes tactics style RPGs.
Someone on another thread was like, “Yo, try Tactics Ogre" but I've been dodging Disgaea like it’s radioactive because everything I’ve heard makes it sound like a full-time job.

Yeah. People who've played the game a hundred times complain about it because it didn't really add enough. It's true to the original experience.

For people who have played it a hundred times, yeah it's not worth buying.
Yeah basically, and I mean, it's just a bit weird that they bothered to make a Enhanced version and a Classic version, but the only real changes at the former are extra QoL features, some weird rebalancing and I think there's extra dialogue pieces (don't even think there's extra cutscenes right?)

I can't even play it as the "original" original version, how can you even call it Classic without having "l i t t l e m o n e y" darn it!?

But all things considered, I probably would've bought it if I still didn't have the original disc working, so eh, whatevers.

There's quite a bit of added in-battle dialogue if you're deploying uniques. Probably too much.

Took me a while to transcribe this

Agrias: Gaffgarion, I would ask why you involve yourself in this, but such questions are moot now.

Gaffgarion: Ah, Agrias, ever the white knight...you'd do well to give up on the princess! Oh, and while you're at it, give up your sword and armor too. You'd be happier settling down, as a woman should.

Agrias: And you, ser, are ever the knave. To this day you treat me with contempt. You seem to hold where one's sex limits where one finds fulfillment. You find yours in selling your sword for coin, yes?

Gaffgarion: I do. Good to see even one as straitlaced as you can appreciate that.

Agrias: If that brings you happiness, I'll not dismiss it. But is it not also the happiness of countless women who have chosen the sellsword's life? These women share your values, find fulfillment in what they do. And it is not for any man to say otherwise.

...

Gaffgarion: I know about you Agrias, More than you care to assume. Your brother, the heir to the house, had died, and so your father raised you as a man so that you might lead instead. That is why you are become what you are. A girl who knows naught save being the princess' keeper. Do you truly find fulfillment in that? In living as a man? If so, I pity you.

Agrias: Do not feign concern for me. I see your words for what they are. Fear. The fear of a woman who defies your expectations, or indeed anyone who fits not your view of the world. To protect your fragile self-worth you scorn those who share not your values -- those such as myself and Ramza. But I will not judge you for your narrow-mindedness, nor will I mock or despise you. Our worlds are simply different. Ever will there be things we struggle to comprehend about each other.

Gaffgarion: Why use so many words when you could just call me an old relic?

Agrias: As I said, I've no intention of mocking you. Cling to your values, if that is your wont. I will do the same, as will Ramza. Even if understanding eludes us, I accept that you are a product of your experiences.

Gaffgarion: Hah, you do mock me. But I'll have you know that I've heard worse!

I'm surprised the goobergaters didn't jump on this shit immediately

When they mentioned there's gonna be new cutscenes and make the special characters have more story relevance, I was definitely expecting... new cutscenes. This feels a bit lazy and sounds like hell for repeated playthroughs, at least it's not that bad.
Took me a while to transcribe this [...]
>Gaffgarion is now misogynistic, mocking Agrias for being a weak woman
>In a world where its incredibly common to see woman soldiers/mercenaries.

Huh???

A bit more of Agrias backstory is a little cool ngl.

Playing FF1 for the first time since I got the pixel remaster bundle and honestly, it's kind of ass. My black mage keeps eating shit every other random encounter and I don't find the gameplay fun enough to bother grinding levels. Think I'll just skip straight to FF2 tbh

It’s just four bums walking into town with like 500 gil between them. Allegedly, these are the chosen heroes of light from four distant continents and yet they show up broke as hell, buying starter rapiers and leather hats from the Cornelia Dollar General. Your black mage can afford one spell. He casts it, then he’s just standing there with his knife like a useless stagehand until he can go nap at the inn.

FF2 is so different, you should honestly just skip it and go straight from 1 to 3.

You must be doing something wrong since FF1 PR is stupidly easy. You don't have your Black Mage sitting in one of the top two party slots, do you? Those slots get attacked twice as often as characters in the bottom two party slots (Square didn't know how to program rows yet, so that was the best they could approximate the idea).

Oh.
Well Jesus Christ, that makes a lot of sense. I just thought rows were something that didn't exist until FF3. Fair enough, I'll give it another go lol

Disgaea is ass, the gameplay is both overly complicated and too easy, it's just horrible. Story and characters suck too, though it's occasionally funny.

Woke filth, lmao. I don't remember this feminist trash in the original.

New Dissidia mobileslop got announced last night. Currently no title or any real info, just some vague teaser images to get you excited for the actual reveal on the 14th.
https://www.jp.square-enix.com/ddff/

Only things to go off is the phrase Team Boss Battle, which makes me think it might be some dumb cooperative shit, and the images seem to be FF characters milling around Tokyo wearing modern clothing.

People's best guesses as to who the characters are in the silhouettes and images.

Its such a same how good a concept this is contrasted with the crime of locking it to mobile. I can only assume this is one of the last games they had in development for mobile before reorganizing.

They need to figure out how to port the dam things to console now. They are getting lit up on the comments

They need to do a proper Ehrgeiz sequel at the same time.

God save the Ring!
