In regards to Carol Chandler, it's possible she's one of those people who seem to be extended family members that aren't really close and people in the family like Cole may only really know her by name, or potentially seeing her once or twice in his life when associating with that side of the family, not only because of geographical distance but because there may be no major effort to reconnect with them either because family members have gone their separate ways and drifted too far apart or they are just completely toxic unhealthy individuals, that you eventually decide to just cut these people out of your life because it's better for you.
