I never understood why Starlight keeps putting Hughie down. He's been a weak little twink for most of the show, and now, he can actually make a difference, but for some reason, that's a bad thing?
He went from a pathetic character who served as a stand in for the audience to a guy who went toe to toe with Homelander and naked.

I really like this Hugie. He isn't a pushoever, the weakest link or a lackey anymore.

Peak character development.

Exactly. This change is good. The man went from being scared shitless of supes to "fuck it, I can fight Homelander in my birthday suit!" But somehow, Starlight thinks it's bad? Really? If I was Starlight, I'd have given Hughie the blue shit so that he can be a supe for real, and he doesn't have to puke every day.

So can adults not take compund V (the not 24 hour version) and gain superpowers?
They can, but it has a very high failure rate. There was one guy that actually did it in the show? The Jihadi that could explode at will and survive, but Noir killed him.

Starlight thinks its bad because she's a self-centered cunt, the real life equivalent of Jennifer Aniston bitching about youtube celebrities and how it cheapens real celebrities like her

Exactly. She's been too comfy having the upper hand in the power dynamic. But they're still portraying her and MM as being on the right in regards to Hughie and Butcher having superpowers.

>this man is making me kiss him, even though I abhor him
>i am fucking terrified
>lol, what the fuck, huey. i can take care of myself

i just think it's inconsistent writing

If they want to equate the v24 (and people like A-Train who use v recreational ly) to drug abuse, does that mean natural-born supes are the equivalent of crack babies?

I find the bigger issue is that unlike M.M., Starlight knows why Huey is acting the way he is. She saw that he spent a year doing things the "right way", only for the rug to be pulled out from under him, revealing that he never accomplished anything, and never would have even if he kept doing things the "right way". She is being frustratingly dense.

M.M. at least has the benefit of not witnessing the year of wasted effort.

Like she can take care of Homelander? Really, at this point, common sense went out the window for stupid "empowerment" BS. Starlight got Supersonic killed by involving him in a plot against Homelander, and now she's against Hughie joining the fight. And OK, I can understand her being upset at Soldier Boy causing massive casualties, so why doesn't she just pretend to back Homelander and get them to kill each other? Instead, she cut herself off from the Vought commercial Empire at a time when Homelander couldn't afford to burn any more bridges. The show wants to portray her as brave, but what use is that if her moves make no sense?

Also, LOL @ her eyes lighting up and going into attack mode when going up to Soldier Boy and Victoria. As if that won't end with her being turned into a pile of giblets or a smoking corpse.

Starlight going off about how soldier boy is a menace is a weird flex considering out of the 3 times hes killed people

twice its been his russian brainwashing that forced him to do it.

like sure maybe he would have gone through with the latest one anyway after they gave up noir but well never know.

and the whole killing people is wrong angle would probably land better if you also werent actively plotting to murder someone as well?

It's actually kind of ironic that people stick with the show for Homelander. Anthony Starr's portrayal of the character is basically similar to Jude Law's portrayal of Lenny Belardo/Pius XIII from The Young Pope. The writers probably imagined the worst possible villain given their tastes, but instead, they created a character that people are immensely fascinated with. Pius XIII was created as a satire of hardline Catholicism that the libs still despise, but instead of hating the guy, the audience loved him, and some religious critics even praised him as a good depiction of tradition and authentic religious devotion.

Like Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin before him, Homelander has that effect as well. The writers expect you to hate his guts, but he genuinely has to fight threats from inside and outside Vought. He's forced to repudiate a woman he loved, he's forced to struggle as Gus Fring uses him as a corporate puppet, the love of his life dies, then he pulls a fast one on the guy and takes control of Vought, only to struggle and nearly collapse when Soldier Boy appears. While the audience still knows that he's evil, he's still the most compelling character around, even more so than Butcher, who just comes off as a ruffian.

Homelander has to play the roles of the gentleman and the psycho, and he plays both well. His mirror monologue showed his inner demons and his struggle with his own humanity. Between Starlight being preachy and Butcher being a thug as always, Homelander retains his spot as the most-watched character in the show, especially since, aside from being the strongest character, he's the one with the most character development, and his presence makes any scene important. The Boys would be nothing without him.

Going back to the Lenny Belardo example, I can also see audience members who despise the "club" of Hollywood Christian-haters like Seth Rogen unironically admire Homelander, since he's a Superman-style character who encourages the Christian community in his America, preaching about bringing the wrath of God down upon the enemy, and openly participating in baptisms. They know this is the show writers portraying Christianity in a negative light, so they unironically admire someone the writers want people to hate. Similar to how comic readers several decades ago admired Rorschach from Watchmen for being tough on criminals, even though series creator Alan Moore wanted people to hate him.

To be fair, Huey is the only person Soldier Boy has told so far that he's blacked out and nuked those 2 areas.

If anything, now I have to check out The Young Pope ngl
Go for it. It's pretty interesting, to say the least.

And if Starlight wants to stop Soldier Boy that badly, can't she just back up Homelander and support him against his predecessor? If she plays her cards right, the two of them could wind up killing each other, solving the problem rather neatly and leaving her in charge of the Seven and Vought.

Yep. She got Supersonic killed because she drew him into that conspiracy. And it only validated Homelander's fear that someone was out to get him.

I stuck around for Timothy, and to see him cast aside for some cheap whore deeply upsets me.
Poor Timothy. May his soul rest in peace in the hands of the Lord.

also

im waiting for them to reveal what exactly soldier boy did that was so terrible his entire team, including the woman he loved and wanted to have a family with decided to hand him over to the russians for no reward except getting rid of him

like did he diddle gunpowder? i assumed that was fake documents butcher had acquired since he threatened to leak them to ruin gunpowders reputation, but maybe that was incorrect and he did infact do it

i keep expecting them to reveal soldier boys memories are fake and he was just a colossal shit bag, but so far he just seems to be really mad about being betrayed by his team mates.
