I specifically remember watching the one about a british chick running over a duck and being killed for it and was like "are we seriously just funding vegan revenge porn now?"
 
I have finally watched this show. All of a sudden the shit show surrounding made it very interesting so I thought I’d check it out. Overall, it’s really fucking annoying how many “sit down and talk about our feelings” scenes there are. They talk about it so often it’s meaningless, they all feel like shit, but apparently talking about it is shown to not be effective. Because every episode they do it all over again. Fuck this show.
 
This seems like the opposite of a good idea. Wouldn't the ratings die off?

I’ve decided to sit down and watch some of these episodes after watching the kino stream and I might be schizo, but I just get an uncomfortable vibe from the show. Like the writer has certain philosophies or creepy world views that leaks into his works and it makes watching it just uncomfortable for me.
Gooseworx's whole brand was using cosmic horrors for comedic effect, in effect that means that the story and characters of any cartoon are under-reacting to the distressing beings and fates showcased on them. You can watch Elain being swallowed, MKULTRA'd, dehumanized, like it's a Looney Tunes bit. It's also different from other cartoons in the same genre by having zero normality to frame around anything that's happening on screen, all of these things are normal inconveniences of their world.

Like slapstick, it curdles and rots if you take it too seriously. That's what the Amazing Digital Circus did. If your comedic nihilism runs out of comedy, and tries to be a serious lesson, it's just propaganda, isn't it?

As a little kid I once saw (not read) a children's book about a man with a lot of exotic pets who wants even more, and discovers a pet shop ran by a real extraterrestrial with wares to match, but it instead takes him as one of those to be sold to a gigantic alien child who treats him like a hamster. Eventually the child hears his pleas and releases him back to Earth where he joyously reunites with his animal friends. It stuck to a baby Cnidarian for a grim feeling that couldn't be hidden behind the style, because the main character was imprisoned, and not even his captors knew this. And the lesson of the story, revisiting this memorry now, is "a living thing isn't just a novelty, owning one means that you have the responsibility to hear their feelings".

There'd be no such ending if Gooseworx drew it, and there'd be no such message, because that would mean enforcing a norm over the plot instead of wallowing in the absurdity of the situation, no humanity to make it deeper than a Far Side bit. The Amazing Digital Circus proves this with its refusal to aim for anything higher than a message of Optimistic Nihilism, aka Learned Helplessness.

"Optimistic nihilism" is one of those things that doesn't ever need an explanation because every society has always known it, and so has every person observed it. It doesn't have any beliefs that are different from the "bad" version of itself unlike most schools of philosophy, the only thing to set it apart from nihilism without adjectives is the emotional state of the nihilist. This means that it's not a philosophy. It's a word game that Kurzegesagt's started playing against "existentialism" when it animated too many doomsday prophecies for shock value and preceded to phase three.

Kurzegesagt may be sensationalist. They may be shallow. But they're not ignorant. They knew exactly what they were doing by neglecting to introduce their viewership to the ideas of existentialists who actually tried to tackle the impotence and fragility of our lives, whose rhetoric and values varied wildly but all agreed that we needed to dedicate our irreplaceable lives to something we individually thought of, ourselves. "Don't be a sucker" in other words, that's what they omitted from something that looks like existentialism, sounds like existentialism, responds to the premises of existentialism, but produces the opposite kind of person, and can fly under the nose of a more literate person because they take it for granted that "happiness" can mean satisfying their self-chosen living mission.
 
They keep milking the whole "Arin Ross 13-year-old passion project" since they aired GameO. Villainous was like that as well.
If Gamoverse ends up being as slapped together, aimless, and as poorly written as TADC and MD I'm actually going to be pissed. In case you didn't know TADC was made up on the spot and I'm pretty sure MD was too but I'm not certain and MD is so bad it doesn't even really matter, in any case I can cut them a bit of slack for being written the way that they are, not much mind you the ending of TADC is still inexcusable, but still, a little. If Gameoverse has been in development for even a fraction of the time they say it has then it fucking better be the most competently written show on Glitch to date.
 
What is actually insane to me, and perhaps very telling on my money grubbing ways, is that this guy could just draw this himself. Is this a porn addict's form of charity?
A huge part of the appeal for paying that $700 for someone like goose is the social aspect throughout the creation.
Imagine Gooseworks with a little director hat on, and over the shoulder of the artist making sure each gunt fold is up to spec.
THAT'S WHAT HE'S PAYING THE PREMIUM FOR:

In the middle of the game you have to copy your brain to a new body and decide whether to kill your old body or leave it to die, since the former copy of you is still alive. That's why everyone refers to it as the SOMA plot twist.
I don't even feel like this is a good moral quandry. Is he doomed? Mercy kill. Is he not doomed? Ah sweet, two of me, we can work together. If we're literally robots there is nothing stopping us from being two of the same guy. The other guy will inherently be a different guy too because of his lived experiences and how we won't experience the same event in the exact same way even if we go through it side by side and are clones of each other.

I played SOMA a long time ago, but iirc, the main character, Simon, needed a better robot body to go deeper into the ocean depths to save what remained of humanity from a dying Earth. But he realized his previous weaker body was still alive with the original brain scan copy. You, the brand new brain scan copy, are faced with the decision:

1) Let the weaker body live, but he'll be trapped in an area with monsters that you've been running from since the game started
2) Kill the weaker body to prevent him from suffering any longer in the monster-filled horrorscape he lives in

I decided to let the guy live. Not only did I value his life when I was playing him regardless of how many monsters were chasing him, but it was the right thing to do to let the guy choose for himself whether he wanted to live or die. Maybe he'll make something cool of his life, who knows. He deserved the chance to choose. Humanity has lived through hellscapes in the past, in deserts, the horrors of endless wars, hundreds of millions suffering and dying under the grand ideals of Mao and Stalin, but there are survivors who not only survived but thrived after the horrors were tamed or defeated. I gain strength from learning about what my ancestors have gone through and thrived in spite of seemingly endless horrors. We humans somehow went from living naked in the wild to masterfully controlling electricity to the point of creating AI and fridges full of food to the point obesity is a bigger problem than starvation in large chunks of the world,

The story and ending of SOMA was about creating purpose and doing the right thing in the face of a hellscape of a life, so I thought letting the guy live to make his own decision of life or death fitting. Even if he chose death, it would be his decision to make.

Thinking TADC was going to have a SOMA-like ending, but only getting a Temu version with the heart and soul ripped out of it was so disappointing.

IIRC the lady helping you basically lie and told you it was going to be a transfer, not a copy and you only find out when your old body makes noises.
Maybe he'll make something cool of his life, who knows.
Or integrate with the organic AI that is growing all over the facility. From a brief moment he was apart of it put his mind back in his old home with his girlfriend. So maybe it wouldn't be all bad.

More than that...well, I didn't play SOMA, but I've watched some videos discussing it, so maybe I'm not the best person to talk about it, but more of a summary hitting on the themes and spoiling the ending:

You're in an underwater facility plagued by bio-mechanical robot monsters and facing impending destruction. Earth has been devastated by a comet and all of humanity has been wiped out except the "lucky" inhabitants of the facility, who have been working on a way to preserve any remnant of humanity, hoping to launch an ARK into space containing a simulated world with brain scans of anyone who was left. Just, get the fuck off of this dead world and let this digital version of humanity live as long as it can.

So you're on this last desperate mission, dodging hostile corrupted robots, led around by a woman named Catherine who is also a brain scan herself. As stated, at one point you copy yourself into a better body and have to choose whether to let your old copy live or not. At another point, you encounter the last living human on earth who begs you to kill her.

At the very end, you're about to launch the ARK and have only a few seconds to upload yourself and Catherine to it before it takes off, and you just barely succeed in time. Except...as it launches, you're still on earth in the upload chamber watching it leave. Catherine yells at you for not understanding...it's the exact same situation as earlier, you made a copy of yourself, except this time your perception remains in the body left behind. There's no such thing as a transfer of consciousness...you weren't making a copy to save you, you were doing so to preserve some version of yourself, whose own continuity would include remembering performing the upload but then waking up on the ARK. Catherine, in her conniption at you for not getting it, short circuits and dies...leaving you completely alone in the darkness of a dying facility.

And then after the credits, you get to experience the starting moments of your other self's new life in the eden-like simulated world aboard the ARK, floating through space to an uncertain future.

I have no doubt in my mind that the only work done with GameO is that they designed the characters and maybe 1-2 rough plot ideas.

Every. Single. Time. a person online says they've been working on something for "years"; they mean they've had the idea of it for years and came up with a few cool scenes. It's never scriptwriting, plot development, character development, structure, foreshadowing, or anything. At best, it's mild worldbuilding, but even then, rarely ever anything to write home about.

If someone were to hack into Glitch Studios and dump everything they have on GameOverse, I'd bet a year of Kiwifarms subscriptions that it's less than 20 pages and has minimal editing. That's how it always goes. Since he had no one to pitch it to over the last however many years, it's probably just been those 3 or so YouTube animations and some scribbles on his social media accounts. If it were truly a story he was passionate about, he could've made a comic (Lackadaisy). He could've continued making YouTube animations (Among the Green, Fundamental Paper Education, Bigtop Burger, all series made by either 16-year-olds or a nerd with access to Blender), he could've written a story for people to read--he's bloody internet famous. He has money. He could've even paid someone to make the comics for him (Saitama creator comes to mind).

Where there is a will, there is a way. Even an animatic would've worked.

Nothing is ever done in advance, no finished product or selection of ideas, it's just "I've been thinking about these handful of cool scenes over the last X years and think it would be cool animated because I love my idea :) Money please?"

Funny how his beloved passion project couldn't be made until he was given a shit ton of money to make it after sitting on it for ages. Fundamental Paper Education was made by a milk-drinking baby and blew up the internet after making a music video to a Baldi's basic's Tombstone song. If he cared, GameO would already be a piece of media.

I pointed out one short made for the new cartoon cartoons block where it was 3 people in a ice cream truck trying to give good service to dana snyder as a gay vampire, one of the people in the ice cream truck was a ugly homofag with gay and tranny pins and green hair, and that short's fanbase was lusting over a 17 year old black girl. Not to mention that the short's creator wanted to make the show for adult swim or some adult network so a lot of concept art was very ugly tumblr lewd shit.
