I think it's pretty amazing how shallow the characters ended up being. The show threw hints they are layered only to cuck out every time to what the characters were in the first episode.

Like Ragatha is hinted to be manipulative, only for her to be completely honest.
Or that Mask guy shown to be a lot more vindictive than he lets on, only to be a whiny bitch.
Or that Jax isn't the bully hiding behind his fears, only for it to be exactly the case.

Kinger was the only one who ended up being more than what he appeared to be in the first episode.
Kinger won.

I mean idk about Sugar but Terrace literally got her start working on Gravity Falls, started dating Alex Hirsch himself, then while he was still a big deal got her Owl House show off the ground, and after that ended and by the time he lost relevancy she broke up with him. Now shes about as established in the industry as he is, and getting more work than him seemingly.

Dont feel too bad for him tho, on top of being an intern-fucking weirdo he's also extremely obnoxious.
I remember in the EZ PZ Steven Universe video he mentioned Alex Hirsch would jack off in the company building. Has this been deboonked properly yet?

So I took the 3 1/2 hours out of my life to watch episodes 1-8 of this show. The animation work is solid. Obviously talented people are involved in this but it has the same issue as the rest of these millennial arts major shows. The dialogue. The issue with all of these shows is that the “people” making them are some of the most broken, wretched queers alive and no amount of therapy or feel-good horseshit has EVER made their miserable faggot lives ANY better. But the day they accept that is the day they join the 41%. Truly, it is the last cope of the copeless, as a fat-Canadian-who-showed-his-asshole-on-stream would say. An astonishing lack of self-awareness, but I expect nothing less from a troon. Suffah tranny.
Other than Space King, Bigtop Burger, and Smiling Friends, are there even any genuinely good animated series coming from internet creators right now? Even Baman Piderman had better writing and plot progression than TADC, and that show was literally about Batman falling in love with a cake-eating tuba.

Why does it feel like most Glitch shows only have the showrunner writing everything? A lot of these projects come across like the story was never fully planned out beyond a few cool ideas and character concepts. I genuinely do not understand how you dump millions into animation without having a clear beginning, middle, and end mapped out beforehand.

Edit to avoid double-posting:

Honestly, Glitch should just start doing pilot pitches and let the audience vote on what gets picked up. Cartoon Network did something similar years ago, where creators pitched their own show ideas, and one called "Villainous" ended up winning. The network did not make the pilots themselves either. The creators made them independently and presented them.

That system makes way more sense. It lets people vote on projects they actually want to watch while giving Glitch access to a huge pool of ideas without immediately throwing massive budgets at them. It would also cut down on people whining about what gets greenlit because the audience literally chose it.

Instead of spending insane amounts of money on something like KoG before anyone even knows if it has an audience, let creators like Dana make and pitch a pilot first. Build an event around it. Livestreams, showcases, community voting, whatever. Let creators actually show the raw version of their idea instead of burying it under corporate production immediately. KoG had no reason to be made at the quality it was if it wasn't even guaranteed to be produced. It would also allow them to see which character designs work and which do not. KoG is interesting in concept, but I hate looking at the two girls because they're ugly as shit. If it was made as a simple pilot with them, then they could get community feedback, update the designs as needed, then have something people like more.

It would also give smaller indie creators a real shot, rather than mostly pulling from ex-industry people. You could get teams like the Long Gone Gulch creators pitching ideas, too. Hell, charge a submission fee for pilot entries and it practically pays for itself. The whole thing would create way more community engagement, help build actual hype around projects, and make audiences feel invested from the start. Even just an animatic would do. "Becky Prim" got popular despite just being an animatic.

They keep milking the whole "Arin Ross 13-year-old passion project" since they aired GameO. Villainous was like that as well. His characters existed on early Newgrounds (now that I think about it, it also does the "infection" idea as well. Instead of games, though, it's for shows.) If they care so much about airing people's passion projects, let people who don't already have names get a go.

I don't get why some people are in denial SOMA was the planned ending from the start. Even one of MatPat's ghost writers saw it coming. Don't get me wrong — I would've also preferred something more clever like this:

They completely passed on the opportunity to do something where the people who abstracted are actually the ones who got out. Could have juxtapose the ones in the circus watching their abstracted friends with the ones who got out waiting for them to wake up from the coma or whatever.

Yes, the real ending was poorly written, and yes, Goosework was theory baiting with enough vagueness so SOMA wasn't always 100% certain. But by episode 8 it was the foregone conclusion. He was 100% betting on the twist being his own sixth sense plot twist and he did leave many clues. Episode 1 alone showed the headset was empty and merely connected to a normal computer not sci fi simulator pods

Like others have said, most theories were just attempts to rationalise SOMA not being true because they liked the characters.

A hollow "nothing matters, but friends and toys help you cope" is 100% in character for people like him. Did you realy expect someone deeper and wiser from someone whose whole life has been self indulgent? He literally told us the message was "there's meaning in a stagnant existance". He genuinely believes this was a deep feel good message.

Hell, I can treat this pilot as a standalone animation and the other stuff being considered as filler.

Someone actually said that.

You know, crocodilian mouths appear twice in the show.

Why do I point this out? Well, it's probably more fetish stuff for Goose. Notably, so is the term "abstract". Yes, he bought art of his Blue Man Group OC from the same artist I covered last time.

You should really keep this kind of stuff private.png

Let's calculate out how much money Goose has spent on just this piece alone using the artist's handy commission guide.

With line style, full render art with no background, as per the artist, he would spend $500 on this 2 page, 6 panel comic alone. If you'll refer back to my previous post on this matter, we can track that he has so far spent $750 on art for this 1 specific OC from this 1 specific artist alone. Not only that, but Goose is competing with other people for slots from this guy as he only opens for a limited amount of people (first come, first serve with only 8 slots) and then closes the day after. He has this guy on watch fo' sho'.

What is actually insane to me, and perhaps very telling on my money grubbing ways, is that this guy could just draw this himself. Is this a porn addict's form of charity?

So this is where all of glitch's money is going towards, some troon's disturbing fetish art commissions. Great to know.

To delve deeper into this. I feel that the ones that were not explained yet in the pilot would have worked tremendously for Gooseworx's abilities in the bizarre style that he usually does. Imagine how cool it would be if the pilot had been a short film if they never explained what the Void was or how the Gloinks were just the first of many bizarre beasts that Pomni would see for eternity, and Jax being infinitely nicer than what was shown in the entire series.

The final scene would have much more weight, it would dawn on us that Pomni will finally be in this personal hell with no one to count on and that this will be her life from now on.

It really teaches that lesson that sometimes, less is more.

The video also mentioned that he can't drive and shat in trash cans.

The video is basically a big "Source: dude trust me" but barring a few blatantly made-up parts the rest of the stuff mentioned in the video about the various shows and creators have a good amount of weight to the statements like Pen Ward's incompetence running Adventure Time and how it planted the seeds for a lot of the various "Tumblr-isms" you see in western animation these days.

Oh trust me, I wish Alex Hirsch got worse. I am physically incapable of feeling bad for him. As for Terrace, she was totally whoring out, at least.

Regardless of anyone's feelings about the whole series. I think the funniest thing to come out of this is everyone suddenly deciding to hate gooseworx. Not because she made bad product or anything, but because they have to come up with bizarre and retarded reasons to hate her. It is seriously hilarious that they need to jump hoops just to hate.
