The simulcast was a waste of fucking time as expected. I had to catch a much later rerun and it had two ad rolls, including one during the first henshin sequence. I'll have to download and rewatch it properly.
I'm fully expecting Toei to pull the plug half way through the series because it didn't get a trillion viewers or some overly inflated number like that. They are trying almost everything to sabotage the international release of Rider for some reason, while Tsuburaya is doing just fine.

I recall Toei making some really shit DVDs for the US market around 200x, too

The ads are those especially lame kind where the actual video keeps going too, since it's a "live" broadcast. So, unwatchable without ad block.

I thought it was a pretty great premiere for Zeztz. Lots of creative camera work and I thought all the gunplay choreography was pretty cool. I was particularly pleased with the dream/nightmare logic. Unfortunately, due to the general nature of how these TV shows are made there's just no way this will be a common occurrence. One nitpick I have is that they didn't do a good job showing that the girl got away from the kidnapper when the car crash happened. I saw many anons who had to be told to look for it.

I will admit to always using adblock so I did not have the trouble that others faced with the stream. I had missed the initial 10 minutes of the first airing and just caught it all again on the rewind. I have to praise Shout's subtitles as I didn't see any stupid localizations aside and they even retained 'henshin' as the transformation phrase. Only thing you really miss from subtitles is the protag's sister calling her brother "baka aniki" or 'stupid brother'. I'll admit I can't think a of non verbose or non stupid way to adapt it so just leaving it as brother is fine. I also liked that they translated many of the background books and even a letter handed to one of the characters.

Other than that, I'll repeat what many others have said that the way they're simulcasting the show is very dumb. However, I will disagree with most and not place the blame on Toei. I think it's purely TV Asahi's fault which is the Japanese channel which airs both Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. They are of course gonna be super anal about airing one of their currently airing shows for free on the internet. You wanna know why it seems like a bitch and a half to get Heisei Rider onward on home media in the west compared to all the Showa stuff? That's cause of TV Asahi as well. It's also how the Zero One Blu ray uses TV masters along with the "make sure to not watch to close to the TV" warning at the bottom of the screen at the beginning of every episode.

Gavv was so silly it turned me off from the series.
I can't say I enjoyed it overly much. I did however rather enjoy parts of it. The final fight Jeebh and Lizel participated in. for example. Partially because any fight where someone literally smacks two people's heads together then headbutts them both at the same time is going to make me smile.

I dunno, when I saw the suit, the belt, the circus music and the overly cute gimmicks I was repulsed and had to take a sabbatical. I did want to smash Glotta though.

First run of Kamen Rider I properly worked my way through was Ex-Aid. This was not that show by any means but after sticking with that despite initial visuals I gave Gaav its chance.

The KR Twitter pendelum just keeps on swinging.back and forth between "Kamen Rider is WOKE. you idiots!" and "We need to have a SERIOUS talk on why this specific season of my toy commercial is sexist or racist."
LjS7.webp

One week it's "Kamen Rider says kick NAZIS!" followed by "Kamen Rider hates women for not making Sachika a Rider."

I believe, no, I know a lot of these people have never watched the shows, perhaps just some meme'd clips and maybe a video essay by some idiot.

I will never get why leftists constantly point to nazis as enemies as proof of a piece of fiction being "woke" nazis are the most basic, stock enemy in anything ever
and there's also the fact that even for kamen rider it's irrelevant as fuck considering the franchise has long moved away from them being enemies

Replace Nazis with Fascists / religious terrorists and it's the same thing. It's the crazies with their weird fascination of Nazi in general and they saw a franchise to infect their stupid ideology with.

These people love promoting their woke ideologies even in kid's franchises without provocation.

A medium made in one of most ethno-centric countries in the world who are actively trying to push away foreigners, raped most of Asia 80 years ago & will never acknowledge or apologize for said atrocities has a race/sex problem. No way.

How dare Sachika not become a Kamen Rider! It's not like she was an independent business owner who helped break up fights between the Riders and helped Shoma adjust to the Human World, right?
