New LORD BELIAL album

Haven't listen to it yet though and tbh I never really cared much about Lord Belial. But others may be interested.

What I have already listened to is the debut album of KONFESSION (Austria) which is my cup of Black Metal. It's raw, punkish, frantic, obscure, doomish, some old school vibes here and there and I really dig the vocals. This is going into my top ten list of 2022 releases.

And for those who prefer their Black Metal more melodic: KARNER, also from Austria.
If you wonder about the weird German song titles then it's because they are in the band's Austrian dialect (the band is from Kärnten or "Carinthia" in English).

🤘

I keep finding surprisingly cool stuff from that not-so-venerated "somewhere between oldschool and modern" period of death metal in the early 2000s.
This shit legitimately sounds like Formulas/Gateways era Morbid Angel binged on early Devourment and decided to record an album. I wish slam sounded like this instead of like, y'know, slam.

I'm going to sperg and you'll all have to tolerate it. Do something about it fags.

I've always found Killswitch Engage interesting. Back in the day around when they were first founded their vocalist was Jesse Leech, the guy in this video:

Now he eventually developed a bit of a drinking problem and his vocal technique started to falter, so he left and was replaced by their better known lead singer Howard Jones. He's the melaninated fellow in this video:

Their album As Daylight Dies, and especially the song My Curse really shot them to fame, because it made it into guitar hero:

At one point I saw them in concert when he was with them, and they're a bunch of fucking psychos. They were doing somersaults and shit across the stage, and their lead guitarist (who was wearing a cape at the time) said he was going to lick our girlfriends' armpits. It was a...very spirited, performance.

The problem is that eventually he developed a serious drinking problem and his technique started to falter, around the time of their self titled album.

So then he left, and Jesse Leech came back, and since then they've had a few albums that are pretty solid: disarm the descent, incarnate, atonement, etc. So that's cool. Howard seemed like a pretty charismatic guy so it's sad to see him go, but it's also nice to see a musician get their shit together and get back into it.

Thankfully it's clear there's no bad blood since in this song off Atonement they invited Howard back for co-vocals. About the happiest ending you're going to get.

That's all, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

I heard it was the beetus, but I suppose drinking would cause that.
