Saw Venom Inc yesterday which was neat. Sadly the hall was tiny and the crowd was pretty lame(including me), especially for the first band Torture Squad. Hope they don't take it personally, Dutch crowds just be like that until the beer kicks in. The heatwave probably didn't help. They played The hammer in honor of Phil Campbell which was awesome. Really missed some Venom classics like Witching Hour and Black Metal though but whatever. They did these long ass drum and guitar solos as well which I'm guessing was so Demolition Man could go have a smoke backstage. :story:
Meanwhile I've been going through some Iron Bonehead bands.

Ah that’s a shame. Cool about the Motörhead cover though. I saw them about 3 years ago and it was all pretty much classics (we even got Bloodlust even though Mantas wasn’t there!). Would’ve liked to have heard Prime Evil or Harder Than Ever though. Great set and good energy regardless.

Good power/thrash.

Their Legacy of Pain demo which I only knew from a shitty tape rip was actually professionally recorded and the CD reissue sounds great. There's something cool about the latecomer thrash releases from the early 90s when the songs began to stretch out to 8 mins or more and double down on the witchy/militant vibes. Inquisition's debut is another.

Edit: I'd be fine with metal jukebox night also. There used to be a bunch of Youtube watchparty websites that were good for music chatrooms, although region-blocking is a bitch.

fwiw they kinda went back to the Demanufacture sound on their album Mechanized. It's not bad.

Possibly a hot take, but imo the next-best thing are Obliveon's last two albums: Cybervoid and Carnivore Mothermouth.

For context, Obliveon was a technical thrash band and going all Fear Factory was regarded as a sell out move and way too simplistic and unoriginal by their established fan base. If it was supposed to make money, it didn't work, and to this day it's more obscure than their (already pretty obscure) early albums, but it's actually very good stuff, just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Carnivore Mothermouth is like what Static-X would sound like like if they didn't totally suck ass and have like one good song maybe.
Mechanized is pretty good, but I also like Genexus so far. I will give Obliveon a try later.
