Nope and like literally half of the monsters look like Mario characters, Digimons and one of them even kinda looks like a robot master from Megaman, except its face is completely blacked out.

Should have been called "Magnet man".

That's quickman you pleb.

I noticed the stamina drains faster than every other RPGs in the world, particularly Persona 5 which is already infamous for its sp meter that's difficult to recover just for the sake to force you to leave the palace.
If it was only the AI acting stupid, then that'd take far longer to drain the stamina, well if you compare that game to Pokemon. Assuming the foe and your own Pokemon have only moves with like 20pp / 30pp it would take over 100 turns for someone to die using struggle, if we assume that neither you nor the foe knows any move that can hurt.

That's because stamina is the slowest stat to improve upon in Temtem. You get more moves that can drain it faster, but your Stamina doesn't grow as fast to allow you to use those moves in succession. If you wanna use the bigger moves, you'll have to expend it.

And even if the stamina does recover a little bit after every turn, sometimes it's not enough to use it safely. There's also the fact that if you overexert, your Temtem - Using the example of the Dojo leader Sophia, her top pokemon Oceara only has two moves, one of which is Tsunami that takes 25 Stamina and Ice Shuriken, which takes 15. And when she can, and she will, she'll spam Tsunami, especially since there's only a one turn wait in between uses for it (which considering it hits both of your Temtem, doesn't hit her partner temtem, does a base of 70 damage AND her Oceara has the ability Hydrologist which adds 15% more damage to water Attacks) it'll eat up through it's stamina pretty fast. And in my experience, KNOCK ITSELF OUT.

And if you do over-exert, you're forced to have that Temtem skip a turn. So you get both Damage and are forced to skip your turn, which I think is WAY too costly for that regard. And the regaining of Stamina each turn is really minimal.

I think the problem, like Lockstin followed up, was that Temtem are overly generic, and while that label can be applied to pokemon's designs in some aspects, it's that they have a lot of potential to have made the creatures be unique when it's just - have creature, give element.

And while that's not a bad design philosophy, it's nothing really ground breaking.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=gPFAApe8vvc
This is a really good video to watch to get an understanding of pokemon design, but for those who don't wanna sit through that - Here are some 'design rules' that pokemon has for the most part

1) Pick a real/fictional creature or object
2) Give it an element - Sometimes determines it's color.
3) Give it a face - Eyes, face, or mouth
4) Add 1 or two extra features that you normally wouldn't see on that creature. Exception being fully evolved or legendary, 3 or 4 - But no more.

Don't get me wrong, Temtem does follow this - Probably the best Temtem I've seen (and am currently trying to catch mind you) is Oceara:

You can tell it's a water dear... Simple and pure. And it follows the design philosophy that pokemon has.

MEANWHILE:

You remember Sparzy? Yeah, this is it's pre-evolution found in the animated trailer.

WTF am I even looking at? Yeah, it's cute, but again, WTF am I even looking at?
It's like an electrified tree stump thing. Which... it's not related to tree stumps in the slightest.

I'm not sure I'd call Oceara a deer? But I would point out that there's:

- Two confirmed deer lines (Cerneaf and Amphatyr) and one frequently shown (the Cubone deer thing)
- Two confirmed rabbit lines (Bunbun and Lapinite) and that's not including severable arguable cases.
- Quite a few serpents: Zizarre, Shuine, Nessla... Orphyll I'll forgive because it becomes a hydra.

Temtem is littered with duplicate mons and we've only got half the first set!

Edit: Oh, and before I forget. I've been watching Temtem on the Steam charts and on twitch, and interest is dropping. It may be because of the work week, but Temtem's been dropping by about a thousand players each peak hour since Sunday.

Likewise with twitch, the number of viewers is increasingly dictated by 1 or 2 variety streamers. You take those out, and this 9-day-old game isn't doing much better than the two-and-a-half month SwSh.

I'm not fully opposed to there being similar body types or creatures in a monster collectathon's roster, hell, technically speaking we have about 6 serpent pokemon in the first generation alone - The only difference is you'd be hard press to confuse the rock snake, the chinese dragon, the two serpent dragons and the two poison snakes.

And while pokemon does have creatures that share the same species - For example: Vulpix, Zoura, and Fennekin are all foxes, but they're completely different in design and aren't in the same generation.

I'm not against the idea of there being duplicate species in a generation so long as the designs are drastically different and if they hold different roles in the world. Like, if I can use another pokemon example, we've got two weasel lines Buizel and Sneasel, both are based off of weasels - But one's a water weasel while the other is a yokai. Same thing with Wooloo and Mareep.

Hell, if the creatures were actually related to each other in some regard, like in the case of the Nidoran line or so, that wouldn't be an issue.

There are enough divided species out there for people to take advantage of, like in the case of the fox pokemon again, you've got Fennekin being based on fennec foxes, Vulpix is based off of red foxes and kitsune, and Zorua is also based on kitsune, but it's also based upon a different myth of the kitsune and it's design makes it stand out from Vulpix.

Again, I'm not against the idea of it. Also, we do have to take into account that I think that hydra temtem is one of those backer designed Temtems.

Also, I think, and don't quote me on this, but I think the Platypus was given to the Temtem by one of Adrive's (a popular poketuber) mods from his discord.

I like monster-collecting games in general, but this reminds me why I stick to Sirilim and SMT.

There's very little reason for Temtem to exist. Gendersparkles are already faithfully committed to GameFreak, so they shouldn't need an alternative to Pokemon. Unless, of course, deep down they realize Pokemon has gotten lazy.

Current stats on twitch as of right now for both Temtem and Pokemon. This is at least partially because Adrive's actually playing SwSh right now, but this is the closest I've seen the two. Never mind that they're both BTFO by the games in between.

The steam chart for today also peaked at below 25k for the first time since release. I think content's dried up. I'm even gonna take what I feel is a somewhat ballsy bet, and say the charts won't beat 30k all weekend.

I'm not surprised. I've never played Temtem (it's $35 and I could get multiple better games on sale for that much), I've only heard about the game from friends playing it, the server issues, and the pronoun drama. But Temtem's biggest issue from what I've seen is it doesn't even try to be a monster collection RPG with twists on the formula in the same way something like Shin Megami Tensei is, or hell even some of the Digimon games. Instead it tries to be a carbon copy of Pokemon on the 3ds, down to the art direction and fakemon. If you weren't a die hard Pokemon fan to begin with, you likely wouldn't care for this game. If you weren't a burnt out Pokemon fan who can't accept the fact that you might as well just play another game, you likely wouldn't care for this game. This game's audience is very narrow, being "pissed off Pokemon fans who want to play a game just like Pokemon". Otherwise it offers nothing new to the table that other games don't offer.

So uh, the devs fucked up.

TL;DR, the Crystal skates are an item you lose in the lategame of this version, and cannot get back within the scope of the release. This locks you out of an item that makes capturing easier... when capturing is literally the only thing the game has as a way to earn money. More details here.

So, not only have they been patching out some glitches that allow people to get the item regardless, they tweeted this out:

And what followed should honestly have been expected.

These same people were the ones claiming the Temtem devs were listening to all their pleas.
linkreddit.PNG

And that's not the only time I see one of these guys say "ooh, the devs are amazing, they listen to their fans! Go buy the game!" I seriously don't feel bad for them. That's on you for parroting the same shit over and over expecting more ppl to play the game because you think the devs are holier than thou. You reap what you sow.

Thread / Archive

Now that I think about it, there was also multiple occurrences of the devs acting butthurt over Discord, banning ppl for asking for refunds when their game doesn't fucking work, banning for using the word "Pokemon", forcing you to write down "P-word" instead and someone was banned over an apache helicopter joke. No idea about what's going on over Reddit if they are sperging out as much as on their Discord server, but it's likely.

There's a little cannibalism going on there among the Temtem fans.

There's always been that holier-than-thou attitude in the Temtem community. This is nothin' new.

I swear, 'If you don't like it go back to Easymon' will be written on this game's tombstone.

Now, with that said, the Devs finally fixed the Crystal skates issue, by offering workarounds. The exclusive temtem and items have been moved to external areas. Which is at least better. I don't know why they posted some snarky comment yesterday rather than 'hey, we're gonna move the items locked out by skates' but this is okay for now.

Temtem no longer rules the roost on steam. What's surprising, however, is what finally dethroned it - a game from 2018 called Synthetik. (Rockstar's also beat it, but GTA 5 is, well, GTA 5)
1580538419199.png

Synthetik likely took the top spot because of one video by someone named SsethTzeentach, which 12 hours into it's run has 320k views and 34k likes. That's the only video worth anything on the game.

Helps put into perspective how well Temtem is doing.

I think this is more evidence that this game shouldn't have been released as an EA - why? Well, let's consider that they give you a charm that makes catching easier - Something like that shouldn't be something you can get after the first dojo.

What the fuck logic is this? If a pokemon game starts with the first gym using dragon types, and outside of your starter all you can catch are bug pokemon. That gym could be considered unfair because you have absolutely no way to fight back fairly.

If a game is intentionally putting you at a disadvantage you can't possibly counter or balance out, that's artificial difficulty. That's not fun.

So... Basically pokemon red if you picked Charmander? lol.

At least game freak realized that making one of the starters be close to useless for the first Gym and giving the player no other pokemon to counter it was a terrible idea and fixed it in the remake (like giving you access to Bellsprout and oddish and allowing Charmander to learn dragon rage).

They fixed it in Yellow, You can get a Mankey earlier to defeat the first gym with fighting moves.

Don't forget Iron Claw in fire red/leaf green.

And Nidoran could learn double kick early.

Meanwhile in Temtem, these people are so braindead that they don't even know their own game - Genki, an electric beetle Temtem can actually tear through the first Dojo if you have it a high enough level - Since a majority of the Dojo Leader's Temtem are weak to Electric - So, this jackass doesn't know what he's talking about.

Throw in the fact that the AI in these games is batshit stupid - Like, say what you will about Generation 1, at least the games gave you options on how to beat the gym leaders.

Oh, and can I take a moment to talk about how unbalanced the typing system is? Like, the worst type has gotta be the wind type - It's only good against Toxic Temtem - and that's it.

Have some twitter sperging about the game.

Not gonna lie, those steam reviewers are retarded as all hell, but at the same time I can't help but be reminded of the dipshits who threw a tantrum over Ion Fury all because of a fucking shampoo bottle.

Regardless of your thoughts on trannies, one undeniable fact is that at least HEARTBEAT is a better made game than the shitty Pokemon knock-off MMO. And this is coming from someone that's played neither.

As someone who's played both... Ya ain't wrong.

I'll still play Cyber Slueth any day though.
