On a Windows desktop computer via residential internet, clearnet fails to load on every browser I tested (Firefox/Brave/Opera). Using/not using or changing VPNs had the same result. Onion works fine via TOR, and clearnet also loads via TOR.

I noticed a DNS error then it went to landing page for down when I hit ctrl-f5

ETA clear working just now.

Can confirm clearnet having been down, so I already loaded up tor and was about to post through that. But now it works again.

Okay, I'm finally able to post and I'd just like to say - I don't like the new verification system. The reason I've taken so long to say so is because, ever since it was added, I haven't been able to get into my account. When attempting to log in, it'd say "Verifying" and then when the progress bar got to about 80%, it'd fail for some unknown reason.

Today, I somehow managed to log in, and I'm scared to log out because I don't know if it was a fluke or not. I'm a bit of a lurker but I like to log in so my place in threads is saved. I don't know if there's any fixes or solutions but I'm hoping I won't have any problems from now on.

@Null Since you said on the stream you need more info - here's a screendump on what's happening with the video player on Safari on MacOS. There's absolutely no errors/warnings on the JS console whilst this is happening. It works on fullscreen, and what's more interesting is that you'll see the video starts up fine, then progressively escapes down, but if I scrobble backwards, the earlier parts will come back to their positions (so if the video was halfwaydown at 5s then almost gone at 10s, if i go back to 5s it will go back to halfway down and not almost invisible)

Maybe a weird edge case here. This banner:
banner1.webp

Links to this URL: /sponsored-content/click?id=4678

Which doesn't load:
banner2.webp
At sometime around 10/2/2026 23:15 UTC.

I think it's this recently expired one in the middle:
/sponsored-content/history?page=3
banner3.webp

If that is the post, it's not deleted or anything:
/threads/my-little-pony.5179/post-25673092

So the bug is either that this banner showed up when it wasn't supposed to, or the requested page should be found. For example, maybe someone gets the banner just before it expires and is taken out of the rotation, but the "sponsored-content" link stops working. Which would be likely if someone opens the homepage, goes AFK and comes back.

Changing the click id to 4679 or 4677 goes to these two most recently sponsored posts respectively:
/sponsored-content/history
banner4.webp
So idk

This has been fixed. Your report helped track it down, thanks.

Thanks for the screen recording, it made this easy to track down. The player starts on a low quality stream and steps up to higher quality as it buffers. Safari keeps drawing the picture at the size of the first stream it got, so every step up pushed the picture further down the player. Scrubbing back put it back in place because those parts were already buffered at the lower quality.

Safari now stays on a single quality for the whole video, so that switch never happens. Can you reload the page and check whether it's resolved on your end?

Closer, but not fixed yet. New screen recording - some movies play perfectly, others start scrolled down in some capacity, but at least don't progressively hide down

please link the offending videos...?

claude made this for you. play around with it then copy+paste the text field at the bottom.
Well fuck, i can't repro whatever I do. Unless you have an "aha" moment, this isn't it at all. But I'll stop being a useless user - I'll try to sick my own clanker on it (I haven't ever done anything for webdev, i'm only infra so IDK what it's gonna ask of me, but I'll put in the effort), or I can offer to give you access to a MacOS VM in whatever way that works for you so you can repro yourself if I'll come up short.

Yeah, all the debug players work, with the exception that the play button *in the video* does nothing (with the exception of the last one), i had to use the green play video below them to get it to actually play something. The site itself still has the problem tho :/

>Thanks, that narrows it down a lot: the player itself is fine, and something about the forum page around it triggers the bug. I've updated the page (the play button inside the videos works now too). Could you reload it and run the new Forum page tests box at the top? Start with As-is to check the problem shows up in the frame, then go through the other five, playing the orange-outlined video in each. Then hit Copy report and paste it here.
