I couldn’t much care if auto-reload is present or not since it shoves your weapon in your face every two seconds for negligible benefit, but picking and choosing what you want in your ‘how it used to be’ mod is thoroughly retarded.

If they want 2007, don’t put in the gunboats and dead ringer. If they want 2010, don’t leave out user options and arbitrarily decide X or Y weapon is too impactful or not impactful enough to include. Pick a fucking patch and stick to it, potentially fix any audio/visual bugs present in that patch at the very most.

Personally I’d pick the one right before Australian Christmas 2011 to get the most of a good year right before they really started to shit over the balance and aesthetics. Community mods were varied, each class had good weapon variety, the original Halloween sets were some of the last tasteful holiday cosmetics, pyro wasn’t a manchild and the promo sets of that year had unique weapons rather than just reskins.

This purity spiraling regarding TF2's Artsyle/Aesthetics that started around 2017 by that one FUNKe video has turned into a disaster for the TF2 Community. Gatekeeping shitty repaints or cosmetics is one thing but excluding contemporary weapons or items available in 2010 in your niche 2010 TF2 mod because they are too ugly is a bad omen.

what's been agreed upon, might as well show their considered touches to the wrangler (shield completely gone) and the dh (dmg increase applies to only players)

i just wanted a version of tf2 that didn't force me to roll with nohat mods...

it's practically a sequel to tf2c, but without the custom assets or the scrapped stuff, i will still observe the end result but i'm getting more jaded every second that passes

Was considering repurposing Kiwi Fortress for the Steam release of TF2 Classic but Valve cockblocked that and then Gold Rush which just screams of impending trainwreck :sigh:

sadly only vanilla tf2 with the plugins will be the one to get any traction here, but even by then the ever so present issue is dragging them players in

except tf2 goldrush is such a worthless lazy mod with its devs refusing to improve stuff. tf2c since its 2020 release had some cool little things added to the base gameplay which have been overshadowed by custom content: complete polished bot support and some gameplay QoL like ammoboxes giving amount of unreloaded spent ammo on top of reserve ammo limit, and fov limit increased from 90 to 120.

skipping what was already mentioned, there's a new addition to the mix, you've got to get them achievements before you can use any of the unlocks so right now it plays like a glorified 2007 port that can disable the few hats you can equip
the only other thing worth mentioning is that minimized viewmodels are not functional and the spy doesn't have the buffs he recieved in TB, outside of this every QoL choice in current day tf2 is there

e: the minimized viewmodels do work but i'll have to make a different post over it and not home right now

You're saying I have to get the achievements in goldrush even if I already got them in base tf2? If so that's retarded as hell
basically, and then you get to unlock them unlocks, add that it's questionable if the achieves work to begin with and you've got yourself a nice cocktail of retardation

and yes, the choice is to "emulate" how you got the unlocks at the time

min viewmodels may be broken because there are custom weapon models which probably havent got their position offsets yet.

auto-reload is still missing, nothing was reconsidered, so by this thing alone the entire mod is bullshit on arrival
