no and these choices were mostly debated with the rest of the team and oldfag testers, but one way to summarize it all is hyper purism/minimalism (both in artstyle and gameplay) centered around the 2007-era with selective QoL and unlocks of the later periods, or if you want a comparision, it'll be going from payday 2 to payday the heist in terms of gameplay, everything will be exponentially slower and more grounded

calling it polarizing will be a rather gargantuan understatement

Manual reload isn't really that bad all things considered but my god is that not the direction the mod needs to go. Again why not just do a full "its just 2010 tf2"? Why make all these autistic choices that will certainly attract barely any attention? It would be so easy to just explain it all away as that's just how it was in 2010 but instead the mod is gonna be filled with people annoyed by both the failure to commit fully and the failure to play as smoothly as the modern game. Its just uncletopia bullshit with extra steps.

Looking back, there is deadass nothing wrong with the gunslingers visual aesthetics so that tells me they're just adding and removing whatever the fuck they like/dislike personally.
 
This "Gold Rush" mod feels so pointless and the changes are random. Auto-reload was added mid-2009 so why removed it from a mod that is supposed to be "TF2 in 2010"? I'm going to ignore whatever retarded premise they have and just play whatever mod does the "TF2 before F2P" thing first.

as again, artistic hyperpurism, and dare i say the extreme version of it since it hinges on them deets that i don't know how many people ever noticed, i think it might have more staying power compared to the other mods, but in terms of gameplay it's (as again) an extreme that fundamentally speaking annihilates all movement options for classes that aren't demo (and even by then he doesn't get any) or soldier (and yes, i loathe it since the detonator was rejected for this reason and called a flawed weapon)

It's important to give some context to how auto reload was added and what it changed, because it wasn't added seamlessly as an option you could click on in the menu. It introduced changes which created new problems, which were never solved, such as spy being able to cloak and reload at the same time, and as a side effect changed the balancing of some weapons, particularly those that would be reloaded all at once, such as the smg, pistol and syringegun (which prevented spam), and the revolver (which is how each action of cloaking and reloading were separated.) It also makes the visuals very choppy and the weapons feel worse, even with unlocks like the force of natur

holy fuck, valve has released a whole sdk of modern tf2 for modders, but now they are using it to revert everything to old shitty build from 2008 just for it to be like the older barebone tf2 mods that were based on its leaked sourcecode. and they paid 100 bucks to get this on steam.

I gotta be honest and say that's just not true. I didn't have auto reload set for years cause I was a dumb kid but when I finally fucked around with my settings and changed it barely anything changed. I just didn't have to press R on the keyboard, I still find myself out of ammo plenty and pressing the reload button for the smg is legit nothing. You say 2007 levels and yet this is trying to be 2010 tf2 which had auto reload.

which is why i'm not completely sold on what's it going to be, i'll remind that i'm still not in agreement since i'm in favor of making players feel in complete control (in everything, movement included) than to have a kf1-esque system where it's reload or die, the reload key becoming worthless over it is a small price to pay and one i'm still fine with honestly
 
All it really takes is to grab a specific state that TF2 was in at some point and turn it into a mod. Adding anything else which isnt QoL is retarded and missing the point.

Also, I wish people would look beyond the very early versions of TF2, because it seems to always result in devs inserting completely unrelated stuff later down the line in an attempt to "expand" the base or to enact their "vision" of that particular state of the game. This shit is so tiresome.

call it a pet peeve, but it's mostly because it's become an useless action in itself and that's it, but it's still a minor thing in itself that people didn't really notice because people want to do the big boom boom bang bang
