Here's to hoping they do something worth while. Whoever fixes TF2 gets the big pink cookie.I dont expect much but still, its something
Acknowleding the problem is an entirely different thing than fixing it. Here's hoping for the best but I don't think anything will come of this.I dont expect much but still, its something
lmao never happening,. The days of major updates for this game are long gone. Plus, Valve never said there ever would be a Heavy Update, they just made a vote of whether the 2017 one should be Pyro or Heavy and people assumed one would come out later.I'm sorry, but no hints of the heavy update?

This is the real issue. Valve aren't stupid and they have access to all monetization data, as opposed to the community. What if they already ran the calculations and the bump in profit from fixing the game is a negligible one compared to the passive income they are getting right now?I'm not too knowledgeable about how much revenue tf2 makes Valve as a whole, nor the percentage of it that it would make up on a pie-chart of their revenue. However, I think that if the tf2 community really wants Valve to react in a proactive and positive way, cleaning up the bots, or getting a different trusted team to work on it in their stead, the community must stop purchasing things from the Mann-co store for some period of time. Maybe this is a very idealistic / optimistic look on things, but at the end of the day, love them or hate them and what they've made, Valve is a company and what do companies want at the end of the day? Money.
Oh yeah it definitely is, I remember that there were times that valve employees even said that actions speak more than words, and yet for TF2 it's been nothing but words and obligated cosmetic dropsActions speak louder than words.
But maybe its the cynical part of me but I feel like this is Valve trying to shut people up...I legit think that people shouldnt stop until Valve legit SHOWS a fucking solution and applies it.
Until then, assume anything they say is bullshit.
There's a rough estimate if you take a look at how many individual cases are bought per day on the Steam Market along with stuff like the wedding ring tf2 twitter bot. This is the real issue. They're absolutely infested with troons, and incredibly insufferable ones to boot. That, and the most prominent community servers (the Uncletopia ones) won't allow you to join if you have a private inventory, for some reason. Why not just play on community servers if you hate bots so much?
I've seen people temp banned for saying retard on uncletopia. Why not just play on community servers if you hate bots so much?
Just fucking close the chat and choose a different server than Uncletopia, Tf2 youtuber servers are high tier cancer and i feel dumber for even knowing one. They're absolutely infested with troons, and incredibly insufferable ones to boot. It's so that they can ban you for having the nigger word in one of your gun names, even if you aren't actually using it on the serverThat, and the most prominent community servers (the Uncletopia ones) won't allow you to join if you have a private inventory, for some reason.
People can always host their own. I don't see how people have forgotten how to create their own when this game was community server based for years before matchmaking. Just find friends who do matchmaking, ask if they'd pitch in, and then promote it for like minded people. They're absolutely infested with troons, and incredibly insufferable ones to boot. I think the majority of them are motivated to continue doing it because it pisses off the largely aspergic base. There is a large subset of people who care a lot (or too much) about the game and who often publicly complain about it/contribute to community drama, and from that I can only guess that the bots target those sorts of people so that the bot controllers satisfy some anti-socialness or amusement by stirring up the people on reddit and twitter. What do the bot operators get out of running the bots? Are they just determined to kill the game?
I know there are some nets which in the past promoted paid bot "protection" in chat as one example where some tried to get money out of it. Aside from that I haven't seen much else from the few times I have been joining pubs these past years, but there might be others which could promote cheats, products, etc. to get money. Aside from those, the only payoff I can see from the bots that just infest, aimbot, spam, and don't do much else probably just fall into the motivations of the above. Is there some sort of tangible benefit or payoff to running all those bots and ruining the game?
The only payoff is that it's an extremely easy, zero-risk way to grief people on a massive scale. Bots are cheap as shit to run due to requiring very little processing power to work if you run the game in compatibility mode on Linux, extremely easy to set up if you have even average computer knowledge since you can easily get your hands on the programs required, and Valve rarely actually VAC bans the accounts - and if they do, you can just create a new one. It's so simple and easy that literally any script-kiddie could host a few bots if they wanted. What do the bot operators get out of running the bots? Are they just determined to kill the game?
