Personally. I think it's neat that they tweeted and I guess it could possibly lead to something. However, it's a pretty vague tweet, the "ball" is in Valve's court so to speak and if they've proven anything as of the last few years, they're very unorganized when it comes to things that aren't whatever the majority of the group wants to do (if things I've heard about the internal structure/lack thereof of the company are to be believed).

I'm not too knowledgeable about how much revenue tf2 makes Valve as a whole, nor the percentage of it that it would make up on a pie-chart of their revenue. However, I think that if the tf2 community really wants Valve to react in a proactive and positive way, cleaning up the bots, or getting a different trusted team to work on it in their stead, the community must stop purchasing things from the Mann-co store for some period of time. Maybe this is a very idealistic / optimistic look on things, but at the end of the day, love them or hate them and what they've made, Valve is a company and what do companies want at the end of the day? Money.

I'm sorry, but no hints of the heavy update? Muting F2P accounts? Fixing trading exploits in less than 12 hours? All they would really need to do for the time being is implement a CAPTCHA system when connecting to a server, or a temporary server ban when someone is kicked x amount of times in x amount of time.

Valve has lied to us time and time again and they do not care about the game, only the profit. I would take this tweet with a grain of salt.

There's a trail of dead promises from Valve for the past 20 years. They did this to make the obnoxious crowd shut up, but it means nothing until actions are taken, and they most definitely won't outside of a half ass attempt (like 2 years ago). Valve knows full well that their reputation isn't at stake since their loyal fanbase is always willing to kiss ass and forgive all wrong doings regardless. If they were to actually fix this issue, they'll need to address VAC as a whole, because the hacking tools aren't even directed at tf2's exe which means VAC is utterly useleess on properly picking these bots up.
Remember: Valve fixed the 100% drop for unusual's for #1-20 crates in 2019 within just hours. This is what they care about at the end of the day. The whales in trade servers are what fuel Valve's zombie income from this game.

lmao never happening,. The days of major updates for this game are long gone. Plus, Valve never said there ever would be a Heavy Update, they just made a vote of whether the 2017 one should be Pyro or Heavy and people assumed one would come out later.

Actions speak louder than words.

But maybe its the cynical part of me but I feel like this is Valve trying to shut people up...I legit think that people shouldnt stop until Valve legit SHOWS a fucking solution and applies it.
Until then, assume anything they say is bullshit.

I recall they said that it was picking on which would come out first and that the one no choosen would come out "eventually"

Yeaaars later......

This is the real issue. Valve aren't stupid and they have access to all monetization data, as opposed to the community. What if they already ran the calculations and the bump in profit from fixing the game is a negligible one compared to the passive income they are getting right now?

Oh yeah it definitely is, I remember that there were times that valve employees even said that actions speak more than words, and yet for TF2 it's been nothing but words and obligated cosmetic drops

I remember this response from Gabe over their SDK from 2011. It never happened like so many other things that came out of his mouth

There's a rough estimate if you take a look at how many individual cases are bought per day on the Steam Market along with stuff like the wedding ring tf2 twitter bot.

$400 alone today were made from wedding rings by shabbos goyim

Why not just play on community servers if you hate bots so much?
They're absolutely infested with troons, and incredibly insufferable ones to boot. That, and the most prominent community servers (the Uncletopia ones) won't allow you to join if you have a private inventory, for some reason.

Just fucking close the chat and choose a different server than Uncletopia, Tf2 youtuber servers are high tier cancer and i feel dumber for even knowing one.

It's so that they can ban you for having the nigger word in one of your gun names, even if you aren't actually using it on the server

What do the bot operators get out of running the bots? Are they just determined to kill the game? Is there some sort of tangible benefit or payoff to running all those bots and ruining the game?

People can always host their own. I don't see how people have forgotten how to create their own when this game was community server based for years before matchmaking. Just find friends who do matchmaking, ask if they'd pitch in, and then promote it for like minded people.

I think the majority of them are motivated to continue doing it because it pisses off the largely aspergic base. There is a large subset of people who care a lot (or too much) about the game and who often publicly complain about it/contribute to community drama, and from that I can only guess that the bots target those sorts of people so that the bot controllers satisfy some anti-socialness or amusement by stirring up the people on reddit and twitter.
Additionally, I also think there are people who might do it also for the technical challenge, as in they think it would be interesting to deploy their own networks of uniquely configured bots and see how they perform or how far they can get to mitigate bans/ban waves.

I know there are some nets which in the past promoted paid bot "protection" in chat as one example where some tried to get money out of it. Aside from that I haven't seen much else from the few times I have been joining pubs these past years, but there might be others which could promote cheats, products, etc. to get money. Aside from those, the only payoff I can see from the bots that just infest, aimbot, spam, and don't do much else probably just fall into the motivations of the above.

The only payoff is that it's an extremely easy, zero-risk way to grief people on a massive scale. Bots are cheap as shit to run due to requiring very little processing power to work if you run the game in compatibility mode on Linux, extremely easy to set up if you have even average computer knowledge since you can easily get your hands on the programs required, and Valve rarely actually VAC bans the accounts - and if they do, you can just create a new one. It's so simple and easy that literally any script-kiddie could host a few bots if they wanted.

Though, it's probable that one of the reasons for why they choose to host these bots is because a large amount of them are lolcows themselves. We already know that one of the old bot hosters (the one who ran the "Twilight Sparkle" bots that you used to see around a year or two ago) unsurprisingly turned out to be a brony who considered himself to be married to a cartoon horse.
There's also been occasional discord leaks that have shown some bot hosters showing their autism. I can't remember what exactly caused them to sperg the fuck out - only that it was something to do with someone causing one of the programs they use to host bots to stop working.
