So there are rumors about a July 20th direct? Think we will see a new character if true?

I personally am hoping for Crash, but am not opposed to others. I think the roster should just finish off by getting some remaining 3rd party stars.

Crash for being the PS1 icon and last platformer that really needs representation outside of maybe Spyro.
Steve because Minecraft built a generation and is still very unique.
Doom Slayer because he is the modern FPS.
2B because it would be cool to see Nier as it is basically floating in that Persona 5 level cult classic territory.
Sora, if they can even do it. KH is huge, so it would be an impressive pull off.

I would also say Resident Evil, but after the spirits, I am a little unsure?
 
I am not sure there has ever been a direct that wasn't announced at least a few days ahead of time. It wouldn't make sense, from an advertising perspective.

Probably another flimsy rumor, I think GameXplain had it or something. Though I think there was a direct announced 1-day before. Maybe Pokemon?

The guy that is predicting this direct is the same one who predicted the mini direct in March that was shadow dropped. At this point it's either a shadow drop or it's simply not happening tomorrow. A lot of people think GameXplain have actual ties to Nintendo and treat the way they cover rumors as confirmations/de-confirmations for them but I wouldn't think too much about them covering this since they have to be pretty desperate for content at this point.
 
Would like to see Dante pop up to make the anti-sword people mad and also so he can jam on his vampire scythe guitar and beat Mario up with a motorcycle
 
I think you're all forgetting Geno Whirl. You know, that move he can pull off that does 'fuck you' amounts of damage if you get the timing just right.

People love a good cheese character.

I saw 4chan post a link claiming that Sora and Ryza from the Atelier Ryza series might be some of the new characters added to Smash, but it was turned out to be a fake.
 
I hope they tweet out that the next direct will announce a super mario rpg character at the end, but after an hour of pokemon unite footage the reveal turns out to be fat parakoopa.

There will indeed be a Nintendo Direct on the 20th (archive) but a 10 minute runtime isn't exactly what people were hoping for. Probably no Smash news for a while since this seems to be just about third parties.

Not true. If that was the case then 2B, Sora, Travis Touchdown, Lloyd Irving, and many others would not be high on want lists. Being against swords was kinda a nicer way of being against FE.

Also Byleth was heavily downvoted even though he used other weapons.
