Been thinking a lot about the utterly sorry state the Zelda series has been in from a roster standpoint. No new character since Brawl, no unique character since Melee, half its roster consists of clones, and one of said clones was cloned from a character that doesn't even belong to the same damn series. Speaking of which Ganondorf still doesn't have his own victory theme separate from the rest despite most other villains having one (though they finally let him use that damn sword at least). Closest thing is the BOTW-fied Link but that still didn't change a whole lot, just his bomb and loss of the hookshot really.

It's just so bizarre how one of the big Nintendo pillars has basically gotten nobody new for over a decade. I somewhat get the argument of every new game introducing new characters so it'd be hard to pick but that certainly hasn't stopped a couple other certain IPs from getting that treatment...
That's the thing. Is there really any characters in the franchise that could be added to the LoZ roster? Yeah people say Skull Kid, but is he really that popular of a charcter choice?

Then there's the Kirby franchise with their fewer choice in characters and overall representation.

I think Midna & Wolf Link (as a Banjo-style duo character) would be an excellent pick, honestly. Unusual gameplay style, repping one of the best and most famous games in the series, and Wolf Link is also the same person as TP Link (who was in Brawl and SSB4, but is absent from the game where supposedly "everyone is here").

Or Sakurai could just go full :smug: and add Tingle.

I could see Tingle making it in, tbh. Much like Zelda, Link and Ganon, he shows up in more than one game in the franchise (and also has his own spin off game) and he could fill in that "Bizarre Moveset" Character itch.

Honestly we could take a look at Hyrule Warriors to pick out what character could be in Smash.

We got Toon Link, bring in Tetra so he finally gets his counterpart. Hell, they could be lazy and bring in Toon Zelda too, then it's the proper Zelda counterpart and the Sheik equivalent as well.

Put in another fighting game character like Jin Kazama and watch people lose their minds when each of his angled tilt and smash attacks are all different like in his home game of Tekken.

I'd like to see a Tekken character sure. Maybe Heihachi so you can have a soul calibur guest character reunion with Link and also to stick it to playstation allstars battle royale

If you really wanna stick to Playstation AllStars. Get the regular Dante instead of Donte.

Wouldn't mind a Puyo Puyo character in Smash given we're getting a sequel to PPT. Lip from Panel de Pon would work too, just any kind of puzzle game protagonist really.

It is a shame that it is already an assist trophy because Sukapon really deserves the nod.

Or maybe we'll get another Punch-Out!! character. That would be neat. Glass Joe shows up for his redemption arc.

What makes Conker fun couldn't be done in a Smash game. It's a cute is little kid's game character that they suddenly 180ed with and made a raunchy parody game.
Sort of. What made Conker funny was the juxtaposition. Here's a Nintendo 64 game that looks exactly like Mario or Banjo Kazooie, but the character is drunk and punching a boss's modeled testicals until they literally fall off.

In that regard, it's possible to capture that spirit of juxtaposition by making Conker cartoony or even retro but giving him realistic or violent weapons, like a genuine gun or prop comedy involving actual weapons such as butcher knives.

Not gonna lie, I'd pay good money for this if it were to actually happen:

So to make a prediction..I think it is going to be an off the wall character. The past 2 have been "sensible" choices in that they are from a popular series..and a recent new IP. Both Nintendo properties..So I am betting on something surprising that everyone will be like.."WHUT?"

Edit : Also I think we are getting a badguy, all the DLC so far has been goodguys..its time for team evil to get a new bro.
