Nintendo is getting really obscure with these Spirits:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=id=GQsdC5XMUq8;t=2https://youtube.com/watch?v=AUnWp8bwWZ4
A little bit of trivia for you Kiwis: Of all the minor universes in the Smash Universe (see this list: https://www.ssbwiki.com/List_of_minor_universes), these are the universes that are getting representation for the first time, usually in the form of a Spirit:

- ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat
- Battle Clash
- Code Name: S.T.E.A.M.
- Disaster: Day of Crisis
- Eternal Darkness (notable for being Nintendo's first published M Rated game and Ultimate being the first time Nintendo has acknowledged this game's existence in years)
- Ever Oasis
- Feed Mii
- Getsu Fuma Den (a Konami Franchise)
- Kiki Trick
- Kurikin Nano Island Story
- Mole Mania
- Ninja Launcher
- Nintendo Labo
- Shantae
- Snipperclips
- Teleroboxer (one of the weirder additions, as this game was only released for the freaking Virtual Boy)
- The Tower
- Tomato Adventure
- Ultimate Angler
- Volleyball

The Secondary Universes (those that have contributed an assist trophy, stage, enemy, or item to the series) that are getting representation in Smash Bros. for the first time are:

- Arms
- Bomberman
- Monster Hunter
- Nintendo Badge Arcade
- Shovel Knight
- Swapnote

A number of minor Universes from past games have yet to have any confirmed representation in Ultimate, even with spirits, and this is a long list: 1080°, After Burner (a Sega Franchise), AR Games, bit Generations, BIT.TRIP (notably the first indie game with Smash Representation), Chōsōjū Mecha MG, Cubivore, Detective Club, Doshin the Giant, English Training, Flower Town, Fluidity, Freakyforms, HarmoKnight, Ice Hockey, Magical Vacation (also known as Magical Starsign), Mii Force, NES Remix, Nintendo Land, Nintendouji, Pandora's Tower, Rayman, Rusty's Real Deal Baseball, Sakura Samurai, Sennen Kazoku, Slide Adventure MAGKID, Soccer, Thru, Trace Memory (also known as Another Code), Warrior's Way, Wave Race, Wii Play, X, and Zangeki no Reginleiv.

Of the Secondary universes, only Clu Clu Land, Dig Dug, Drill Dozer, Excite, GoldenEye, Kururin, Nintendo Wars, Perfect Dark, Steel Diver, and Xevious (a Namco series) currently have no known representation in Smash Ultimate.

I expect the number of Minor and Secondary Universes without representation will decrease as time goes on. The game still has yet to be released and we already have over 400 spirits known and I expect that number to more than double after launch and we get to see the entire list of spirits. There also maybe a number of Nintendo franchises that still lack any representation in Smash (one I know off the top of my head is Geist) that could also get representation for the first time in Smash.

Edit: Removed Jam with the Band and Sin and Punishment from the list of Secondary Universes without representation, since it has apparently just been confirmed that Barbara Bat and Saki Amamiya are represented as spirits.

I FINALLY managed to preorder the Special Edition that comes with the Smash Bros Edition Pro Controller and the steelbook case, a friend messaged me when they were restocked online. I wonder how many are going to get scalped online?
Nice, that spot seems to be spawning more memes thanks to the lack of audio. Here's one that's also good.

EDIT: Found another one.

While we’re talking about Smash, I want to reminice on the past a bit. Which characters did you main in previous Smash games.

I got into the series in 4th grade with Brawl, and my mains were Lucas, Ike, Pit, Link, and Pokemon Trainer.

I didn’t have a Wii U, so I was stuck with the 3DS one, but I remember playing Duck Hunt, Link, Mii Fighter/Swordsman, and Greninja a lot.

I mained Link in SSB, Roy in SSBM, Snake in SSBB, and Cloud, Link or any FE character in SSB4

I mained Zelda in melee, I mostly played Wario and Rob in Brawl and it was mostly the FE characters and Sheik in 3ds.

I think.

I’ve always been playing Ness and Game and Watch since they were introduced. I played a TON and Kirby and Luigi in 64 but that was about it for them. Young Link and Dr Mario in Melee; Lucas and Wolf in Brawl; Dr Mario, Roy, and Cloud were added in Smash 4. Personally I’m looking to retry each of these characters again and more in Ultimate.

Weeeeeeeb!

I got into the series in 4th grade with Brawl,

Well, now I feel old.

SSB: Mained Kirby, splashed a little Samus.

Melee: Marth was the big addition to my lineup.

Brawl: Sonic and Zero Suit Samus saw a lot of play for me.

3DS: Megaman was my favorite addition, though I only played this against other people one time.

Ultimate: I'm already maining Simon Belmont in my mind and in my dreams.

link and luigi in melee, wario and dedede in brawl, kirby and lucina in 4, and i'll probably main k rool, dark samus and piranha plant when ultimate comes out

Without including Mario since he was my main throughout the whole series:

Melee: Kirby, Captain Falcon
Brawl: Pit, Snake, Luigi, Sonic
Sm4sh: Robin, Lucina/Marth, Dr. Mario, Ryu

And I want to try out King K. Rool, Simon/Richter, Ridley, and Pirahna Plant in Ultimate.

I first owned Melee, played the first one at a friends house but was too young to really "main" anyone or get good at the game.

Melee: Kirby
Brawl: Kirby
WiiU: Little Mac
3DS: Pac-Man
I don't know why I mained different characters on the 3DS and WiiU versions, something about Pac-Man's playstyle just felt better to me with the smaller control scheme.

I've always liked Ganondorf since he just ruins new players, so I'm happy to see he actually looks good for once in Ultimate. Otherwise I played Marth in Melee, Olimar in Brawl, and Mewtwo/Lucina in 4. I might play Chrom, Young Link, Link, or Piranha Plant in Ultimate on top of who I played in 4, but I can't say for sure without playing it.

Favorite bit with Ganondorf is when people forget he can turn around when he's doing his super-slow warlock punch, which actually makes it hit harder. Even better is when they are a seasoned player and just don't see it that often, then get hit with it anyway.

I won a Sm4sh small tournement that way.

Oh boy, the demand for this game is already affecting Amazon...

'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Seems to Have Sold Out on Amazon
By TANNER DEDMON - November 17, 2018
https://youtube.com/watch?v=BnpmjTMI12cNintendo’s listing for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Amazon’s site appears to indicate the game has sold out through the retailer with an alert saying the game is “Currently Unavailable” at this time.

Scheduled to be released on December 7th, it looks like everyone’s already buying up the game either for themselves or for holiday gifts if the Amazon listing for the physical product is any indicator of its success. While the listing for the game’s digital codes still allows people to purchase the game that way, heading to the listing for the physical copy will end with potential buyers reaching the “Currently Unavailable” message alongside a prompt that directs them back to the digital version. People were quick to point out that the game appears to have sold out through the retailer with the topic of digital vs. physical games again being raised.

Smash Bros. Ultimate appears sold out on Amazon US right now. They best get more shipments and fast haha.

I was on amazon earlier, and all the preorders for Smash Bros. Ultimate we’re sold out. This is part of why people are going digital these days.

The success of the game is also apparent when you look at Amazon’s rankings of the top products in the video games section. Sony holds the No. 1 spot with a product that’s not even a game seeing how the 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription has once again returned to its low $39.99 price, but listed in the top 10 at the No. 6 spot is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It’s just behind the two console versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and more PlayStation Network code options, so it’s technically the second-best-selling game that’s currently available on Amazon’s site.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's
pre-release sales so far combined with the rest of Nintendo's holiday releases also bode well for the company, according to the president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime spoke on the topic of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and other Nintendo games that are prompting people to pre-order them ahead of release and said the company expects to “drive through the holiday season to have a very strong quarter” with games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party, and Pokemon, Let’s Go! leading the way.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is scheduled to be released on the Nintendo Switch both in physical and digital versions on December 7th.
To put it in simple terms, if you want a physical copy on release day you're going to have to preorder the game or wait until stock is replenished.

I mainly played Kirby, Pikachu, Mario, Link, and Captain Falcon.

I missed out on the 4th game due to not having a WiiU/3DS. Is it still worth playing?
