Another update on Universe representation: it has been confirmed that the Rayman series will once again be represented via Rayman being a spirit. We've also confirmed a return of the Excite series, with Excitebike now a spirit instead of an assist trophy. We've also got TWO more brand new universes getting Smash representation for the first time, those being Slot Car Rivals and Yūyūki.
 

The announcer is back, except this time it's not quite as long as the 50-fact extravaganza. Not quite as funny as last time, either ("There's a MICROPHOOOOONE!!!"), but otherwise he hasn't skipped a beat.

Geno appears at 6:04, when he starts talking about arena matches. Looks like Geno got in as a spirit.

Good thing I preordered back in August. Otherwise, I’d be screwed.
Side note, but this better come with a manual. I’m still salty that they don’t make them for most games anymore.

I don't really care if Geno makes it in or not, but it's nice that he's represented in some way or another for the fans that were disappointed.
 
This just in, we have yet ANOTHER update on the Universe representation count, and its a large one:

1) We can now confirm the following Universes from past Smash games will be represented in Smash Ultimate: Pandora's Tower (via Aeron and Elena being spirits), Trace Memory (via Ashley Robbins being a spirit), Zangeki no Reginleiv (via Frey and Freya being a spirit), Sennen Kazoku (via Cupid being a spirit), Cubivore (via Pig being a spirit), Famicom Detective Club (via Ayumi Tachibana being a spirit), and Rusty's Real Deal Basebal (via Inuji Darumeshi returning as a Spirit). That seven more universes added on to the ones already confirmed.
2) We can confirm the following 3 Universes getting Smash representation for the first time: Napoleon, FlingSmash, and Sushi Striker.

With this, 1080°, After Burner, AR Games, bit Generations, BIT.TRIP, Chōsōjū Mecha MG, Doshin the Giant, English Training, Flower Town, Fluidity, Freakyforms, HarmoKnight, Ice Hockey, Magical Vacation (also known as Magical Starsign), Mii Force, NES Remix, Sakura Samurai, Slide Adventure MAGKID, Soccer, Thru, Warrior's Way, Wave Race, Wii Play, and X are the only Minor Universes from past games still unaccounted for, while Clu Clu Land, Dig Dug, Drill Dozer, GoldenEye, Kururin, Perfect Dark, Steel Diver, and Xevious are the only former Secondary Universes still unrepresented Smash Ultimate.
 
Fair warning to those exploring the internet right now: the game's broken street date and it's getting datamined right now. Music is also being uploaded to YouTube by various channels.

 
That's pretty neat, though for standard E4 themes I think that S/M had the best one anyway so I'm biased as fuck.

There's a placeholder in the ost files for a Monster Hunter victory theme.

why have a monster hunter boss and not have a character from monster hunter

Between Monster Hunter's popularity (especially in Japan) and the past few MH games (with the exception of World) being released on Nintendo systems, as well as the recently released MH: Generations Ultimate on Switch, and Rathalos as a boss, I'm surprised there wasn't a MH character already included in the roster.

As someone who greatly enjoyed Cubivore on the Gamecube, knowing that the series is getting represented in Smash after all these years (even in a minor way) makes me happy. Now if only we could get a re-release of the game on Switch ( :optimistic: or even better, a long over due sequel :optimistic: ).

Yeah, this makes complete sense. Having a monster hunter boss/slash assist trophy but no Monster Hunter rep just makes no sense. I'm not surprised there will probably be a playable Monster Hunter, just saddened that such a blindingly obvious character will take up a DLC spot.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, assuming this list of songs is correct, we can now update the list of returning universe receiving representation with some universes listed here as contributing songs but with no other confirmed representation so far. These universes are:

- After Burner
- AR Games
- Clu Clu Land
- Chōsōjū Mecha MG
- X
- 1080°
- Freakyforms
- Sakura Samurai
- Steel Diver
- NES Remix

Potential new universes, assuming the above list is correct:
- Tank Troopers
- Famicom Grand Prix (technically has had stickers in Smash before but has seemingly been overlooked as a universe up to this point)

The Famicom Medley is a question mark: it may or may not be a new remix and may or may not include universe that have or have not been represented in other ways. It really all depends on what they included in this version. People will probably have to listen to it and figure out what themes they included.

The music list is a bit of a mixed bag. I feel like they went overboard with songs (especially new remixes) in some franchises at the expense of others. Like, they remixed a fuckton of Megaman music and included almost the entire Street Fighter II soundtrack, but didn't bother to include Dark Samus' battle music. But on the positive I was pleasantly surprised to see a remix of the original Animal Crossing theme and the inclusion of two Ever Oasis tracks, even if they weren't remixes.

No new Final Fantasy music (or anything new that's Square related) though so I don't think Square is going to be generous enough to allow Mallow or Geno for DLC characters.
