I'm disappointed we didn't cover the pre-game scene for Smash 3DS & Wii U. I'll forever remember victinivcreate screaming "SUCK YOUR MOM'S PUSSY!" to detractors who didn't want Victini and MagnesD3's tantrum because his fursona Wolf didn't return. The replies have Hungrybox and Armada, 2 big name melee autists, getting kind of pissy and defensive at him. They seem to not get that even if they bring in a bunch of goons who don’t play anything but smash; any game that has to use 20 year old hardware and goddamn CRTs combined with the massive amount of screeching degeneracy that surrounds the pro scene makes getting melee set up annoying for TOs. It is for the ones that aren’t primarily Smash players at least. Why do they want to be part of the fgc so much when most of it is merely tolerant of them at the best of times?

Speaking of EVO, I was watching some of the major streams today. In the DBFZ and I believe the Tekken 7 streams, there was one set in both that went on for a while because both players were playing very defensively, and in both streams two separate commentators said something along the lines of, "What is this, a Smash game" in response.

I've noticed people saying that in VODs of other major tournament games, so basically Smash games taking forever to play has become a meme in the FGC community. You know, on top of everything else.

They do. Other tournaments have to get moved around all the goddamn time because melee takes forever if things start go far enough off the rails. This year melee apparently got UNIST moved because they took too long; which is a shame because that game has a lot of heart to it and shouldn’t get dicked around as much as it does.

Believe me, I'm not saying it doesn't. I was watching EVO with friends on a multistream and we wanted to see Windjammers (which is scheduled on the Melee stream). They immediately complained "Melee is still on?" Little did they know, Melee wouldn't finish until about two and a half hours after they said that. Even worse, every time I checked, surprise surprise, it was the same people who are always in top 8 winning.

There were people who were complaining that, because of how it was seeded, two of the people who are always in top 8 would have no choice to face each other in pools, assuring only one of them would actually get to finals. As I read that, I could only wonder how these people are upset that the same exact thing that always happens isn't going to happen this time around.

TL;DR (courtesy of /Kappa) :

I've never been a Smash 4 guy, and I've ditched Melee for upwards of a year now. But this is what I got from their sub:

  • Bayo has been broken S+ trash for years now. Like, since her release as DLC. Top players have used her, but they had to take the community's shit along with the prize pools they won with their broken character.

  • Smash 4 is about to be ditched for Smash Ultimate, and so last Evo for sure for this game.

  • Community finally tired of this Bayo shit, ton walk out of GF because its all Bayo. Remainder boo, because crowd of spectators that dont like what they're seeing are going to boo.

  • What you see are two teenagers sandbagging/stalling because the crowd is pissy and they're being pissy back. Legit every other player I've seen get boo'd in a competitive game just takes their licks because prize pool, but these smelly ass autists do this.

  • If you want to see extra retardation, go to the smashbros sub. People legit defending this because teenagers and because people shouldnt get boo'd. The autism is even worse than over here. And I say that as a retard that just researched through a bunch of Smasher's shit to write this post.

That's fucking pathetic and disrespectful to the tourney organizers. If Mr. Wizard and the Cannon's had any balls at all they'll make this the last time Smash is at Evo.
 
Melee top 8 is going on right now if anyone has the patience to watch that shit for salt. I’m wondering if it’ll go over again and annoy the Tekken players too. They’re probably already grumpy due to their top 16 going untill midnight yesterday.

Both players just stalled the whole time to counter the crowd booing. Somebody had to come up to tell them that they have to play, they can't stall the whole time. People were leaving for a multitude of reasons, a mixture of not wanting to see Bayonetta dittos for finals, not wanting to hear the former boo the game the whole time, and the rest just losing their patience because of them stalling.

I can't wait for the competitive Smash scene to finally crash and burn.
Maybe then, people will actually start playing the games like they were SUPPOSED to be played (:optimistic:).
 
All I can say is thank goodness Ultimate is giving TO's an excuse to drop both Melee and 4. The troubles with hosting Melee as a TO has been discussed countless times in this thread, but 4 is slowly starting to become equally troublesome with repetitive finals, booing crowds, and people just walking out after seeing nothing but Bayonetta on Animal Crossing stages.

This year's EVO has been the beautiful swan song for both games, with Smash 4 having a Bayonetta dittos on Animal Crossing for finals where both players just stalled to insult the crowd, and Melee causing every game's playerbase slotted after them furious that they took hours over their time block for the same players in top 8 to play the same characters against each other on the same stages again.
 
You fucks, stop playing one character against themselves in smash 4. You're wasting time that COULD be spent watching one character fight themselves in melee for the ten thousandth time!
 
EVO this year has pretty uniformly united the entire FGC against Smash, between both players and viewers alike.
