The author of the post has some tasty drama behind them, but refusing to buy the damn game because a furry fap figure isn't in it is silly.

Not buying the game because character A or B isn't in it is stupid, as well for the whole "Appeared on Nintendo, will get in!" logic. Wake me up when Shaq and Bebe's kids are in Smash.

People clamour for characters like Rayman or anything and then get mad even more when they are a trophy or an assist trophy. As soon as people make mods for the game, they shut up and get their cake.

Speaking of Indie characters such as Gunvolt and Shovel Knight, there is Blade Strangers, which is pretty much an Indie Version of Guilty Gear or BlazBlue. It has Quote, Curly, Isaac and Shovel Knight. Yet people are still not happy and will continue screaming and throwing fits. Like with the loud and vocal part of the Shantae fanbase that clamours for her to be in Blade Strangers and Indie Pogo.

According to this Buzzfeed interview (I know, I know), they sent him 12 incredibly simple questions and his response was over 2,000 words long. It's worth reading because his responses are bewilderingly inane. For example, here's a question regarding if he's ever considered working for a publisher, and somehow he turns the topic towards a Nintendo-themed anime:

Oh this retard? I think I came to the conclusion that he actively writes this much garbage as basically his autism fantasy land that he escapes to to avoid the crushing reality of his failed life. Mainly because it is a self-insert fic to a degree and he's fucking a pokemon waifu from the roster based on the very quick skimthrough of his shit I did out of bile fascination.

It's essentially the only thing that's stopping him from closing a car in a garage and pumping said building full of carbon monoxide.

Leon or Andrew, with a different playstyle than Laser/Fire charge/Reflecting shield would be fun.
 
Come to think of it, most of the moves the tournament smashers seem to get really :autism: about are moves that function as counters/parries and can be infinitely spammed. Seems to me that the game would could encourage movement/zoning a lot more if they either just cut them entirely or if they applied the same sort of break mechanic that shielding has to witch time/fox’s reflector/little mac’s counter/etc.

Nerfing the reflector alone would be the ultimate low-effort salt generator. "We found players were too dependent on it so now it goes on cooldown for 5 seconds when it reflects".

And really if we’re gonna have more Starfox characters, I want slippy solely to hear his screeching when he gets power-smashed into the background.

What's baffling is that there are people in the comments for this video who thinks this story is admirable. The poster of this video included. But that's Melee's playerbase for you.

Extra laughs at the "earning thousands" comment. Technically true, but he barely earns more than minimum wage, or less than minimum wage if you consider his home state of California pays $11 per hour.

But at least he gets all the benefits of not working a minimum wage job, like carpal tunnel.

The irony is that Sakurai could give less of a fuck about this guy and the competitive Smash community. He's stated multiple times that he never intended the games to be competitive and doesn't think of them as such. Katsuro Harada, the main guy behind Tekken and whose team assisted with the making of Smash 4, said it was a party game and not intended to be competitive.

Apparently threads complaining about Melee players are popping up more and more, now. They're very cathartic.

These two images are notable, as it looks at character diversity. Bayonetta, a character considered so strong in Smash 4 that some areas ban her, still only has a third as much usage as Fox, a character considered an integral part of Melee's meta. Melee also has more players who played Fox exclusively versus Smash 4 players using Bayonetta exclusively.

(As an aside, Cell is a popular pick in Dragonball FighterZ just because he's a good fit for most team compositions, and each player's team consists of three characters. Also, ignore all the Cammy's. We just don't talk about SFV.)

Of course, there's also just some pure, unadulterated ranting about Melee in these threads, as well.

Personally I’m surprised and glad to see a Duck Hunt in the top 10 for S4. DH is such a weird character I was thinking they’d get permanent stuck in the dumpster never-use tier.

Really seems like s4 is more fundamentally balanced given the characters in the top lists are all over the place instead of being variations on who can smash the hardest at melee range given the opportunity.

Cell sees so much use because: he has all the tools, including something that isn’t quite a DP but still has full invuln, a low crouching light attack for mixups, a command low and an overhead special for even more mixups, a meterless secondary teleport that lets him get more off vanish than the rest of the cast, scary synergy with Kid Buu (arguably the best character in the game after Cell himself), and losing pretty much all competition as far as oppression goes after Gohan’s minute long blockstring got patched and 16’s command grab got nerfed into the ground. I know it’s offtopic, but I hope the devs for DBFZ do something about Cell eventually. The other characters that can do crazy shit tend to come with some sort of caveat. 21 cannot get knockdowns. Piccolo can only get them if he gets you to the corner or burns meter. Broly has armour out the ass but has terrible damage scaling, iffy combo extensions, and a hitbox the size of a house.

On a side note, if you want a friendly Smash like game community that is friendly, Imdi Pogo is where to go. Though, Smashers are going to ignore it due to "WHO IS DAT CHARACTER!?!" or "Y ISN'T SO AND SO IN SMASH!"

I don't get why people go full retard over the leaks, either.

Funny how they also are bashing Indie Pogo, a game that is made with love and has a strong community and screech for Shovel Knight to be in Smash instead. Smash already has a bloated list and people would not be happy if the list exceeds to 3400 characters. The roster is already mostly Pokemon vs Fire Emblem characters.

If Simon is in, he best have a skin that is an homage to his Captain N incarnation.
