Was just looking for the most relevant thread to post this in, I hadn't thought about MTMB in years until I heard the news. Always thought it was such weird autistic behaviour to make an RPG horror with a billion anime OCs, and then just randomly the Mario brothers in the middle of it getting fucking possessed and killed horribly. Apparently later versions/sequels had even more bizarre content, like a bunch more OCs that were edits of Mario and Luigi ala SMG4, making Mario bisexual, shipping him with the main anime guy and putting him in a dress?

She had a Reddit account with not much of interest on there except for this post in r/suicidewatch (archive) from back in September 2024. By the looks of it she had a complete mental breakdown and attempted suicide twice in June that year, her husband divorced her, she lost the house and at least partial custody of her daughter. Apparently what set her off was the dad saying something along the lines of "at least I have a daughter" when she was bitching about mess his kid made.
I'm going through her Twitter but it looks like she didn't post much about the custody situation, or has deleted it. There is a photo of her daughter on her birthday last year and some texts between them, so maybe she was on supervised visitation only?

Holy shit some of her last tweets were sharing a song clip that goes "I hope you die in a fire, hope you'll be stabbed in the heart", and talking about burned corpses. Two days before killing the guy. I hope that ends up in evidence. Also BPD diagnosis confirmed.
Just as I was about to post, found out her husband was one of the many who trooned out during COVID. Their poor daughter.

Holy shit, I remember watching some guy play through all that game a few years ago. Don't remember much about it other than some endings, like that one where Mario gets possessed, locks Luigi in a room with no way out and it ends with Luigi vowing to get revenge on Mario and cannibalizing his own arm. I guess it's not unexpected that the person behind that game turned out to be unhinged. I hope the daughter gets all the help she needs for having to witness such an atrocity.

Jessica Cruz-Guzman, 29, is accused of pouring a flammable liquid over a man and setting him alight in horrific circumstances at a home in Clyde North on December 18.

The house went up in flames in the early hours of the morning, with 44-year-old Stuart Blair dying from his injuries later that day.

A second man, 46-year-old Michael Slater, was taken to hospital with critical injuries where he remains in a stable condition.

Two other people were inside the house at the time of the blaze, including an 11-year-old girl and a 43-year-old woman who both managed to escape.
