Using math or numbers is racist towards people who have experienced generational trauma.
Plus, devs are getting lazier, each year

Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
The only time it actually mattered was with that coin-filled airship in Super Mario 3Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
Mike Matei: "WHAT THE FUUUUUUCK!? BACK IN MY DAY, WHEN GAMERS WERE REAL MEN, YOU HAD A SCORE AND YOU TRIED TO HAVE THE BIGGEST TO PROVE YOU WERE THE BEST!!!"Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
Think the only time I ever really cared was when somebody (Ceave?) did a video seeing what some of the lowest scores you can get are, pretty much turning every coin and powerup into a stage hazard.Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
If we're going to use this as an argument then one must ask the follow-up question... is there still a point in having lives/1ups in a mario game?Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
Ironically it's sort of a score in and of itself, because earning lives = fun thing that makes number go higher. Death is a deterrent because it makes number go lower. Whomever gets the biggest number wins, as is the case with everything in lifeIf we're going to use this as an argument then one must ask the follow-up question... is there still a point in having lives/1ups in a mario game?
I mean, they removed them in Odyssey so no.If we're going to use this as an argument then one must ask the follow-up question... is there still a point in having lives/1ups in a mario game?
It's basically an walking sim, nowadays; unless you're talking about an actual toddler playing through itIf we're going to use this as an argument then one must ask the follow-up question... is there still a point in having lives/1ups in a mario game?
Looks cute, seems like some nice character added to the animations that I hope is consistent throughout the cast.
NSMBU seemed like rushed, outdated shit. I enjoyed SM3DW, and hopefully there is some vein of creativity and fun in this, maybe even trying something new like Odyssey.
Long as they don't pull a Halo 5 and restrict multiplayer to online co-op, it's sure to sell.
Same. Looking forward to Wonder, looks like a breath a fresh air compared to the NSMB games. Also like how trippy the game looks, and hope there are more weird power-ups aside from the elephant.I wasn't expecting this or Sonic Superstars, much less both obviously shaping up to be unintended rivals like it's the 90s all over again. But the style looks cute and I hope some passion is put into the game, I'm always up for a good sidescroller as a guy who grew up in the 8-and-16-bit eras.

They were suits before, he looks weird literally becoming an anthropomorphic elephant, it's the only thing I don't like about it so far. Everything else seems refreshing. It's not any different than Mario getting the Tanooki suit a frog suit or a cat suit. This is not the first time Mario has been turned into an animal for gameplay mechanics.
No, but it didn't detract from anything and it's just kind of nice to have. Instead of removing it they should innovate on it.Did anyone ever give a shit about score in a Mario game? It will not be missed.
If anything the Tanooki suit is even more like a furry. Also elephants don't have fur. At least not a lot. They were suits before, he looks weird literally becoming an anthropomorphic elephant, it's the only thing I don't like about it so far. Everything else seems refreshing.

I guess in the sense that it's more interesting than the New Super games... But you're still just fighting Bowser again who has some new macguffin to power him up. The same story they've done a hundred times already.the storyline looks interesting.
But that would take actual effort and Miyamoto has this autistic hatred over giving his characters an compelling storyline. Besides, people will still buy it, either wayIt's time for Nintendo to retire Bowser as the main villain. He's way more fun and interesting as a playable antihero
Most non-Bowser villains in Mario history sucked though. It's time for Nintendo to retire Bowser as the main villain. He's way more fun and interesting as a playable antihero.
I don't want them to change things up too much. Here and there Peach being playable or having a new villain aside from Bowser is good, but in the end I just want Bowser to kidnap Peach.I guess in the sense that it's more interesting than the New Super games... I agree!! This is why more people should play Dragon Quest and read the Bible.I don't want them to change things up too much. Here and there Peach being playable or having a new villain aside from Bowser is good, but in the end I just want Bowser to kidnap Peach.
We don't have enough simple, timeless stories like Mario in the mainstream anymore. It's just the knight in shining armor saving the damsel in distress from a villain, it's not trying to be more than it is and ending up pretentious/subversive like a lot of indie games, or woke like a lot of AAA junk.
