Also some of the scenes in the trailer clearly show Super Mario eating Sonic the Hedgehog's lunch.

The levels look pretty good and interesting and the aesthetic is neat. Also that elephant gives me slight DK vibes.

Unless they fucked up the controls it'll at least be good. But I know what you mean about another "NSMB" situation where they release too many games without much variation between them. I hope that does not happen with this new style and theme.

But if it does... at least the first one will probably be the best one. :lit:

This is a New Super Mario Bros. game but Nintendo autistically limits the mainline Mario games to one entry per console. Since they ported NSMBU, they had to call this one something different. Since the Mario movie brought in over a billion dollars, they had to try to keep the momentum going. It always felt like the NSMB games were slapped together in a few months. So my guess is this got greenlit the moment the movie brought in a yuge and bigly opening weekend.

The NSMB games are irritatingly lazy but they’d always sell a shitload so clearly tens of millions of people don’t care.

More effort went on the animations than the average NSMB game and seemingly they are using the "clayish" style as a selling point:

Although, besides the trippy segments and the new silly looking creatures, I believe will still play the same.
Expect Mario Maker 3 to have a "Wonder" art style at this point. but still no Land.
 
Looks cute, seems like some nice character added to the animations that I hope is consistent throughout the cast.

NSMBU seemed like rushed, outdated shit. I enjoyed SM3DW, and hopefully there is some vein of creativity and fun in this, maybe even trying something new like Odyssey.

Long as they don't pull a Halo 5 and restrict multiplayer to online co-op, it's sure to sell.
 
I wasn't expecting this or Sonic Superstars, much less both obviously shaping up to be unintended rivals like it's the 90s all over again. But the style looks cute and I hope some passion is put into the game, I'm always up for a good sidescroller as a guy who grew up in the 8-and-16-bit eras.

With the way AI is faking voices, I couldn't care less about the voice actor in this case. *I* probably have a passable Mario voice when I try. It's nothing iconic or special, Peter Cullen(Optimus Prime) I would fight for.
 
Thats funny. I didn't even think about porn at all when I saw elephant Mario. But now that you mention it, I wonder what FA has to show about it.

It's not any different than Mario getting the Tanooki suit a frog suit or a cat suit. This is not the first time Mario has been turned into an animal for gameplay mechanics.

Also elephants on furry.

People worrying about Mario's voice need to go outside and touch grass. The guy doing the voice work looks really old. He won't be around forever. They will need to find someone else to do the voice or reuse older prerecorded clips of probably lesser quality. It's only a few lines anyway. Mario never says much.
