I didn't even know Styx was pro-abortion.

He really needs to stop calling himself a libertarian. There is the occaisional libertarian who isn't anti-abortion, but they'll almost always outright concede that you're killing a human life and just make some sort of justifiable homicide argument. Still, that's not what Styx did here. He should just start calling himself a "independent America firster" or a "Constitutionalist" or some other meaningless bullshit. It's not like it matters, he's changed his "ideology" before and he's not been particularly commited to libertarianism for some time, if he ever really was. I think Styx is smart enough to know that his audience is primarily MAGA boomers, and they have mixed feelings on libertarianism anyway.

A lot of people here have called Styx a grifter, and while I think he is, I do think he does still believe a good amount of the things he says. I think he does believe what he said in this video, and I think he does know that his audience mostly won't agree. I think what he didn't know was what the response would be. Judging by the comment he left, I think Styx knows that his audience can't handle opinions different than theirs and he's in denial about that. Styx finds himself in the position every political YouTuber and podcaster eventually will. He has a sizable, commited, and supportive audience who just want to hear their own opinions repeated back to them. If they hear too many opinions that are not their own, they'll stop being loyal. Styx knows this, and I think he's disturbed by it.

In short, Styx is a grifter, but he's a reluctant grifter.

Styx is not a reluctant grifter. He didn't take ads and superchats for a decade but started streaming weekly for them. He's talking about topics to appeal to maga boomers. He gives an opinion occasionally based solely on the headline or seeing whose involved without understanding the particulars of what is happening. That's a grifter.

You play that game, you get this result. The opposing side to Styx doesn't believe abortion is the equivalent to getting a parking ticket or smoking crack once, they think it's murder. Anti abortionists believe it's breaking the non aggression principle to the extreme, if you want to use libertarian jargon. 6 weeks to them is more than reasonable to decide if you want a baby or not. Don't cater to Republicans if you don't want pro-lifers. Viewers do want to hear their opinions mirrored but they should be able to tell content creators when they don't agree with them. Styx isn't obligated to change and his audience has the right to keep their opinions.

It's not purely a Constitutional conversation. The Declaration of Independence is legally cited over there in America. In the preamble it includes the "right to life", which pro lifers think is being denied. Styx would be better off ignoring the topic if he can't handle criticism or doesn't want backlash from the people funding his lifestyle.

I agree with people here saying he needs to rebrand his ideology, and he's done it before. I've known about Styx long enough that I was there for that brief period in the early Trump days when he called himself a civnat. It was around the same time he started shilling for alt tech and every other video was about either "the dying legacy media" or globalism. Dropped it pretty quickly and started calling himself a libertarian again, but he's absolutely shifted away from it since the re-rebranding.

His big problem is he just doesn't know much about politics. I'm not even talking about not being autistic and knowing the name of every senator by heart. He genuinely just has the prowess of a political science freshman at absolute best. Not even his election predictions, which got him fame, are that good. He mostly got 2016 right on dumb luck, but there are early videos where he says stupid shit like "Trump could win New York." The most he can do is identify one issue with a state or maybe a candidate's home-state advantage. To this day, Colorado is just a synonym for pot to him and all his predictions come from that. But ask him about Pennsylvania, for example, and he'd probably say something about business and the presence of Philadelphia and then go "honk honk" and make a fortification joke. But he'd be tongue-tied if you asked him what the swing counties were there, what the important issues were, who cared about them, and where they were, and stuff like that.

As for regular vids, all he'll do is memorize some mid-tier level at-best boilerplates and go his merry way applying them to any news story he comes across while clearly only skimming them. This also means he doesn't know much about any other ideology other than libertarianism and neoconservatism in a weird roundabout sense because of his bizarre obsession with hating them like it's 2007.

He's onto something with saying "pragmatism" more, but he's more likely to start calling himself a populist if he ever rebrands again, and that's another thing he barely knows anything about. He seems to think it boils down to tax cuts and deregulation, and he would and does squirm whenever he hears about anything more than a bit interventionist that populists propose. He'd probably ree about tariffs too if he had looked at what they were before Trump made them hip and reframed them.

Decided to check how much Styx earns from donations, since he doesn't get any ad revenue; his Patreon states that he gets around 1300 dollars per month while on SubscribeStar he earns at least 1000 dollars a month. That combined with apparently pretty good book sales and now more regular livestreams with donations suggests he makes a decent living. Don't know how and which taxes he's gotta pay in the EU as a US citizen though.

That's it. My mind is made up-- I'm going to become a cow.

I don't pay much attention to Styx, so I've never seen her before, and I thought she was just making a silly face

If she actually looks like that day-to-day, :story:
Just think about the type of woman who would want to be with him? Although, the fact that Styx found somebody and they seem happy puts them a step up from other people in the anti crowd.

American citizens have to pay the same federal income tax wherever they live.

Decided to check his earnings again, this time his SubscribeStar stats were open for everyone to see:

If we multiply these all together, he makes 2746 dollars on SubscribeStar. There's also apparently been an uptick in his Patreon donations:

This makes the total amount 4466 dollars per month plus all his booksales and livestream donations. Pandering to MAGA boomers pays off I see. I'd do the same ngl.

His business model of just translating obscure historical documents and texts into different languages sounds very appealing to me- especially since I am trying to learn one of the Native American languages to prevent it from dying out over time. Right now I speak English and piss-poor Russian, but aside from the Native Language I would love to learn either Mandarin Chinese or Korean.
